I'll be happy for any version to come out but preferably I'll wait until they release the extended cuts with the Hobbit.

Concerning the book, Tolkien said there was no way to satify 100 percent of the people with all of the material, and so it is with the Jackson interpretation of the movies. I was personally getting tired of the number of falls the hobbits seemed to take, especially Frodo in FOTR, Faramir's lust for the ring in TTT, etc. But minor points aside, I still think that these are the best movies I have seen. I certainly can't recall seeing any movie that has been made with greater care.
yeah, I remember. But, I'm talking most adaptations in general have somewhat idiot fanbases who don't always get it. Even if the movie in question totally sucks, the filmmakers usually mean well, and I give them credit for that.

I know. I remember. But, I'm talking movie adaptations in general. How everyone in my community seems to be unsatisfied by the Harry Potter Movies( OOTP was neither great nor terrible) and how I'm constantly confronting idiotic fans, trying to reason with them. You don't recall seeing any movie handled with greater care, and I agree. But the filmmakers of any of such movies usually mean well, and try to satisfy audiences.

I also agree, no film studio will ever please everyone with a novel/live action film adaption. It's just like anything else in general, which is impossible. I can honestly say after watching the theatricals and then watching the extendeds after they released there will be NO way I'll ever buy the theatricals again. I'm sure they will release the theatricals first, and I'll rent em. You miss out on so much with the "short cuts". You're almost seeing a different movie like when you watch ROTK when there is roughly 40-45 mins extra. I'd rather watch my EXTENDEDS on dvd upconverted than buy the crappy theatricals on blu ray. My closure...

Theatricals on Blu = Rent or Netfilx

Extendeds on Blu = THEN I will buy

my 2 cents.

You and the millions of others who said they'd never buy the theatricals.

BTW, ROTK EE is 50 min. extra.

Of course I bought them in begininng...at that point, after only seeing them in theaters, it was desperation. Also, I said "roughly" which means I was too lazy to get up 5 feet to check the case, BUT it's actually 52 mins not 50 if you want to get THAT technical.

On a side note--> And how could i possibly validate the theatricals being crappy compared to the EE's if I hadn't watched them anyways lol?

I sorta meant "again" when I said that you'd never buy the theatricals.

I saw the theatricals and was bored. Either I wasn't interested or couldn't get what was happening. The EEs changed all that.

I'm pretty technical, sometimes. When I read a runtime on a case, I remember it.

Gotcha, yeah I def will not buy those again. I agree, when I first saw the EE version I couldnt believe my eyes. All I could think was, "Why was THAT not in there!?", type of thing ye know? There is absolutley nothing wrong with being technical...wouldn't wanna spread false info now.

52 :P

Yeah, it's interesting how you sometimes remember stuff of no real importance.

You need to be drug out into the street and shot.

Of course you need to see the EE; you are missing so much more, especially in ROTK where Aragorn's words "For Frodo" take on a whole new meaning.

yeah you are mnissing out very much indeed. Alll of them have so much more that was not in the theatrical release. ROTK being the most important. With the ariving of the army of the dead. Mouth of sauron, final scenes of Saruman, house of healing and so much more.

Wold have loved the return to the shire but I understand why Saruman died the way he did in ROTK EE; for movie purposes it made sense

Mouth of Sauron wasn't that important, as it's basically a guy telling the characters that Frodo is dead when we know he' alive. But i agree with all the others.

I never bought the Theatricals. After I heard that the EEs were coming out I held off and it was well worth the wait IMO.

Return of the King made me so glad that I had the EE.

Seeing Saruman's fate was much better than "He's dead, move along." And of course there was the Legolas/Gimli drinking contest.
