Region coding has nothing to do with piracy controlling. It does not affect piracy at all. Region coding is for giving local theaters a chance to show the movie on theater before it's available on discs in stores.

MPAA has nothing to do with region coding.

As said:

All Blu-ray games for PS3 are region free and plays in all PS3:s.
All neutral movie studio releases are region free and play.
All Sonys movie releases in Europe are region free since spring and will continue to be.
All movie release on Blu-ray must be region free 1 year after first introduction of the movie to the Blu-ray movie (new batches of the same movie must be region free).

Region C (India, China and Russia) will most probably never be used.
Region B (Europe, Australia and Africa) will not be used so frequent and only by a minority of the studios, not at all by the majority of studios.
Region A is only used on all titles by one studio so far and that is FOX. They have started to release region free Blu-ray discs in Europe so hopefully they will also abondon the region coding in USA, atleast on catalogue titles.

All region free movies plays in all PS3:s. All games (Asian, European and American) for the PS3 plays in all PS3:s.

This is true for all Playstation 3:s around the world. Don't think where are any multi-region PS3:s available. If so I would be buying one today.
