No, it doesn't work for you. It works for a lot of us.

I am so glad I sold all of my 3D movies and Steelbooks. It's a movie. It's something I watch for entertainment. 99% of the movies out there, I don't want to own. The 1% I will buy on discs. At the distances we all sit from the TV, I can't tell a difference and I really don't care. Digital is so much more convenient and I can take my movies anywhere.

It's a movie. Watch it and have fun.

Oh, I do. I don't want to be squinting at a screen though. Also, I have a projector so it's not as forgiving as a TV set. Bluray is perfect for the most part in terms of that screen size and audio wise too.

UV doesn't work for a grewat many people. Just do a general search of the forums out there. Not many people even know what UV is in this country. Now, for me that's the definition of not working. Netflix is in millions of home, same with Amazon Instant but Uav is still a mystery. What a damning statement that is for the so called 'Universal locker'. It's failed guys. Face it.

Yeah, my cousin was using VUDU for years before I suggested he link to mine via UV. I already had UV, but he never did. In that scenario, it pretty much worked out for both of us that I had UV. Now I get any UV title he buys on VUDU and vice versa. In that sense, it's not a failure, but if I hadn't suggested it to him, he'd still be using VUDU without UV, and each of us would have fewer movies. UV isn't a homerun, but it has its benefits.

What if you were watching a more adult orientated film, can your whole family see your movie history? I like horror films and some of them can be hardcore gore. Wouldn't want any of my family (older family) to see that.

My cousin's around my age and totally open-minded. My parents are also linked, and they know very well that I'm into a wide range of movies. They're not shocked by my taste in movies. But yes, all my UV movies are shared with them, so they can see my purchases. I can see theirs too. For example, my cousins bought Fifty Shades of Grey last month. At first, my wife blamed me for the addition, until I pointed out it wasn't me. She just doesn't like me to waste money, and that's a bad movie. Ha.

Not for me that. I like my collection displayed on my shelves.

When Digital HD is concerned keychest is the way to go. It stays behind the scenes like UV should have. Has the providers UV wants. Vudu is smart going both ways.

I have bought so many Blu-rays just so I could have an iTunes copy. Crazy, I know. Since I just like having them. Never watch them. But UV just doesn't feel like anything. Vudu is nice since it has an app on the TV, but I still never use it, and certainly never use UV.

If vudu is growing. its not because of iTunes not joining UV. Its because its Walmart, and some studios forcing it on people, like they did iTunes, so long ago. If Apple Stores sold Blu-rays, they would probably include and iTunes copy like Walmart includes vudu.

Still watching discs

It's only useless if your stuck with itunes lol but seriously, Apple and Amazon decided they didn't want people to be able to move their movies to another storefront or buy from somebody else but watch on their store front. Everybody was invited to the DECE to put UV together, the 2 no shows were Apple and Disney.
If you need itunes you have to buy an Apple TV, Amazon a Fire TV. However with UV you can access literally hundreds of ways without buying 1 manufacturers proprietary equipment. Amazon and Apple were welcome to join and they didn't. People gravitate towards easy and accessible, Vudu is very glad Amazon and itunes didn't join and at this point they are not needed imo.

Amazon also works with Roku, as do all the other providers (except Apple). iTunes is the only provider that absolutely requires proprietary hardware, which is why I find them to be the least useful provider, by far.

Yep, I have several Roku's I use daily and it is nice they have all of the apps except itunes. Fire TV at first had one UV app but then got rid of it. I'll bet if Amazon had their box out before Roku they wouldn't have allowed their app on it. They seem to be following the Apple model now, to the detriment of their customers.

No, the fact is Vudu really is the only useful UV provider. It's not just Apple/Disney. It's Amazon. It's Google.
UV is also a catastrophic failure outside the US. In an ideal world, UV would be replaced by Keychest, Blurays would come with one code that redeems to whichever provider you choose, and also ports to and is playable with the others. It's a win for everyone no matter what provider you use or if you use multiple ones.

More like anybody with any market share decided not to join. Some of the people who did not join are itunes, amazon video, microsoft video, google play, disney, and youtube video.

Disney key chest is the way to go they basically cover the whole market with all the major players joining. Disney key chest accomplished everything dece failed to do by bringing amazon, iTunes, Microsoft, google and vudu all to the table. Now we just need the other studios to suck up their pride and expand Disney key chest to be universal studio wise.

Disney doesn't do disc to digital. I have 15 to 20 Disney movies I would love to have on Vudu, but refuse to pay full price for them again. So Disney has its faults too.

Amazon also works with The Playstation 4 which is in around 50 million homes, also the PS3.

I am not sure that Disney protecting the value of their catalog qualifies as a legitimate fault as far as this never ending debate/discussion goes.

I would say it certainly does. They have the best catalogues of any company. And the cost of turning their older titles digital is much higher then any other movie studio. That certainly makes a difference in this never ending debate. Cost is always a factor.

Due to this cost, I find myself watching Disney titles more on discs and the rest of the movie studios digitally.

We don't even have Vudu in U.K. Even DMA not available. We have subscription Disney service.

Same here in Canada. I have Vudu and DMA accounts (secondary to iTunes) but subscribe to Getflix in order to use them.

So you are living in both worlds and are apparently OK with that, like I am and many of us are.

For now, yes. I don't think that will happen in the future.

I prefer to have one box (besides the subwoofer) for my entertainment system. So everything has to fit into that one box. Right now that is the XBOX One. I can watch An UHD, Blu ray, DVD, Vudu, Netflix, Sling TV, and play games on it. The day in which I can't put a disc into the next gaming console is the day my discs will probably become a thing of the past.

Which is why I am slowly building up my UV account with movies I already own on disc.
