Default Do You Really Know How HDTV Really Work?

It has come to my understanding that a large portion of individuals have a HDTV and don't really know how they work or get the full potential out of their HDTV.

Let's find out who really knows what they are talking about or did you buy a HDTV to keep up with the Jones and be able to say to all your friends " I have a HDTV."

I'm afraid I have limited experience with getting the most out of my HDTV. My current TV (Samsung HD Ready 24") is the first one I ever bought but got my greedy eyes on a superior upgrade to that which I hope to buy some time early next year. Then I'll *have* to make sure I'm getting the most out of it

very broad question " how it works"

I'm all about hd, went from 480i, to 480p, to 720p, to 1080i ( interlaced ) and 1080p ( progressive )

i'd prefer seeing 1080 lines all being shown vs every other line anyday

i have an hdtv so I enjoy higher resolution content

listing your equipment doesn't mean you know what you're doing.

I guess I should hook everything up HDMI via my receiver to make sure I get 1080p out of everything except my cable box because it only does 1080i. I'll make sure everything is in line with my harmony one remote. I think that was pretty easy to set up. What else would you like? If you have a PS3 I'll see you in Madden and if you have a XBOX I'll see you in "Call of Duty or Gears of War" You take your pick! Why buy things if you don't know how to use them. That's wasting my time and yours!

I was under the impression you were going to explain how HDTV really works for those who don't know?

I didn't know squat about home theater until I bought my first Onkyo TX-SR604.

For the life of me I couldn't figure out why I was not getting 7.1 PCM. (didn't even really understand PCM at the time).

So I did a bit of soul searching, and one thing led to another. New words and technology started appearing on every internet link or instruction manual I looked at! ...I could not stop. I read EVERYTHING only to keep learning I knew NOTHING!

No one will ever know everything. But with the help of each other, we can all share the missing info and knowledge we all desperately seek in the ever changing world and addiction of Home Theater.

So does anyone really know how HDTV works? probably not.

Because it always evolves. And by HDTV, I do not mean the actual TV sitting on your cabinet. I mean electronics technology. I completely understand why people are lost.

So its not about seeing who knows what or who owns what...its about helping those who cannot see.

I know how to use my HDTV but if you mean how the circuits and signal works, then few people really know.
However I could tell you that HDTV pretty much works the same as Standard TV, the real difference is the amount of data sent being much more important for the HDTV than the Standard one.

I was trying to help those always complaining about their appearance of their television and returning it because they did not have HD. It may be confusing to some, but currently you have different signals. I know you know analog, digital, and HD. Most individuals that purchase a HDTV excluding the elderly, have a HDTV and complain about there signal. Understanding that, if you purchase a television approximately $2000 is it worth having OTA HD, digital, or HD for all the other channels where available. That's all I'm saying. If I'm going to spend the money then I'm going all out, but if you don't spend the money you get what you get. People need to stop complaining and watch the TV in digital or HD and shut up.
