any news if ABC is going to renew 'The Real O'Neals' for season 3?

To my knowledge outside of The Middle and three ShondaLand shows How to Get Away with Murder, Scandal & Grey's ABC hasn't handed out any renewals yet.

The Real O'Neals however is probably on the bubble on getting a renewal based on ratings.

My guess is that outspoken interview from the kid probably didn't help matters any.

It's doing the worst out of the eight sitcoms ABC airs on Tuesday and Wednesday and it's certain that ABC will want to air a new sitcom on one of those days in the fall so it's not looking good for The Real O'Neals. Maybe they could give it a shorter season to premiere in the spring or maybe it could move to Friday if they cancel Last Man Standing (a show ABC doesn't own that's fairly expensive) but it seems like there's a good chance it won't be back after this season.

I'm going to say it's not coming back. American Crime, another ABC show that got renewed based on critical praise (it's probably the best show ABC has), had its third season dumped with limited marketing and its viewership numbers are below the first two seasons (I hope Netflix, where the first two seasons can be viewed, rescues this one but Hutton's commitment to Jack Ryan complicates things).

I think ABC's going to focus less on critical success and more on easy-to-sell and high concept series with Inhumans coming (Marvel and IMAX are already planning to invest a lot into the release of four of the announced eight episodes theatrically). However, they did try that last year with shows like Notorious and Conviction and got burned.

I hope Last Man Standing can get at least one more season. Season six wraps up this Friday.
