Just came from HHgregg. stuff is more expensive than ever. They no longer honor the sale prices listed on their tags and can only give 10% off original MSRP if you want to buy something

Their prices tended to be a bit high even after negotiating. I never really liked going in there since the employees followed you around like dogs the moment you walked in the door.

I hope not. I don't want to pay more for Blu-rays.

Sounds like ABC Warehouse, which is a Michigan based appliance/electronics chain.

A lot off HH Gregg stores occupy former Sun Television and Appliances. Never even bothered to alter the cement sun above the doors either.

I have actually never bought anything from them (not one in my area). I have been in one store and from my observation they did not sell any media so I really had no reason to go back in. However, it is still a shame to see a store close.

My guess is that FYE will not be too far behind. They are making desperate efforts (i.e., the store merchandise changes) to stay afloat. 2017 could be a rough year for B&M stores.

I got a great deal on a stove/range from their online store last Black Friday.

Went by there this weekend when I heard they were going out of business and their stock was extremely picked over, even though most major appliances were only 10% off. Went to look at the refrigerators and the prices were pretty lackluster. They've had better deals on regular "sales." The TVs were pretty much wiped out - I guess people hear "liquidation" and buy up stuff regardless of whether it's a good price

Left empty-handed, although they will be missed.

I'm surprised any are left. At one point there were about four to five of their stores within a ten mile span. Then it narrowed down to a couple that stayed open for a few years until one day they both had going out of business signs. The nearest of their stores is about a two hour drive these days and not worth the hassle.

I bought a washer/dryer a few years back from them for a good deal, was going to buy a TV this last BF, but they had been sold out and had nothing else I wanted. Not surprised to see them go, not because they didnt sell media like some people seem to think but because they were always ghost towns

FYE... its only a matter of time. closest one to me is an hour away now. Any other ones near me closed a while back. They went through the same type restructuring that Moviestop did where the media sections were condensed and more pop culture type collectibles were brought in. Pissed off the media fans because shopping there was not as enjoyable, and pop collectibles are not enough to keep a store afloat. The few stores I have around me that DO still sell media such as Walmarts, and Target and Best buy... they have all cut those sections down dramatically

GameStop may be a niche company, but FYE's have closed left and right. Closest one to me was 30ish minutes, now it's an hour or more. Friend of mine in Memphis just had his close recently too.

Rumors are that corporate are truly a bunch of incompetent, embezzling morons who destroy good merchandise because they're too cheap to test it.

Throwing money away and treating employees like garbage.

That doesn't change the fact that FYE has one store left in a 5 hour radius of me, while Gamestop has dozens.

FYE is already on the way out. GS still has a bit of time to bid before their doors start closing.
