If you're currently not planning to purchase the upcoming Synapse Blu-ray release of SUSPIRIA, why are you even posting in this thread to begin with? Are you literally just here to troll?

I know what the update is going to be and it should open people's eyes to the truth (although no doubt some folks are so entrenched in their opinions/loyalties that they will refuse to budge and accept the truth).

I have the German leatherbook on pre-order and I'll be buying the Synapse. I hope that a release date will be announced in June.

Judging from Christian's response, the big announcement in June will be detailing Synapse's references for their release. I bloody hope so, along with a release date.

Do they really need to keep us waiting until June to detail their references? Why?

I suspect it'll be one of two things.

Some real evidence (excellent) with some smart alec comments about doubters, naysayers, and how anyone who didn't accept the Synapse's accuracy as gospel from the start are idiots and moaners.

Or more stills, 'evidence' which isn't anything of the sort, and a statement that the non-evidence proves everything.

I hope I'm wrong on both counts.

I hope, and I'd be pleasantly surprised, if we got a pleasant, upbeat response. I'd settle for "This looks different to the European release, isn't it great you have a choice", or "Here's evidence the European one is wrong (together with real evidence), we have no idea why, but hope you take our comments at face value, sorry for the delay. We understand your scepticism, given that we hadn't provided you with all the facts".

I'd be happy with either of those, as I suspect would everyone. I'd say well done to Synapse for coming good, all be it a little late.

Time will tell which it'll be.

And you're wrong. My posts proved that. I'm sorry and I don't mean to sound combative but the screenshots I took directly off the disc match Synapse's screenshots of the Italian disc exactly. Thus the screenshots on Synapse's site match the actual disc exactly. I don't know what else to tell you. And did you view the screenshots on your plasma TVs? Go ahead and open up one of my screenshots in one tab and open the matching Synapse comparison shot in another tab and switch back and forth between them, and tell me they don't match exactly.

I posted those especially with the hope of eliminating the claims that the screenshots don't match the blu-ray, and yet it looks like some people are going to continue claiming that anyways. I give up. You can lead a horse to water...

It sounded more like possible bonus features or interviews or maybe a commentary because of the wording.

Don's post indicates that, but I was referring to Christian, with his professional, non-combative style (as always) who posted:

All you people whining about Chris's attitude in this thread have clearly never ventured over to the Code Red thread and dealt with Bill. Chris is downright saintly compared to Bill. Both sides care way too much about who is "right" in this argument where there is no actual right answer (and the argument is over something so petty and stupid).

Really? Really? I'm on the Code Red thread almost every day. I've had words with Bill many times.

Are we really going to call accuracy something unimportant, like some people have been doing in the Kino TGTBTU thread? Seriously. Accuracy means nothing? It's petty and stupid? Maybe you should go back to one of the screwed up blus or dvds of Suspiria, cause you know it's petty.

The threads seem to swing between how it was filmed and what people prefer in our home viewing experience. I have no reason to think the Kaiser restoration isnt accurate its his job, and im not calling BS on what he did, but we then move into how most people have been watching this since Laserdisc, and the Anchor Bay dvd. I dont think its solely about the right version, regardless if the Synapse is "right" i know both will sit proudly on my shelf.

Let me turn that around on you and ask, "Why should I be planning to buy this film"? I am not a Synapse Film groupie. I like to think for myself.

To paraphrase Pecker, I too am still waiting to hear what the basis is for the color timing on Synapse's release and they feel this is a better basis than the European color timing. Until then I have a perfectly acceptable Italian release to watch. So, yes, a UHD offering is currently the only legitimate reason I would have of upgrading until those questions are answered.

Really. I'm calling the accuracy of the color timing of Suspiria's Blu-ray releases unimportant and not worth getting worked up over. You seem quite emotional about this. Perhaps you should calm down.

That means that the hard work that some labels put into their discs is unimportant.

OK.

Synapse has been color timing this puppy for years. It's not like there's no hard work going on there.

But really, it's just not worth getting worked up over, and I couldn't imagine caring about which version of a Blu-ray someone else was going to buy. One person likes the Italian disc, and another likes the US. Why should I get all angry and indignant about it one way or another? They're just movies guys. Chill. Can't we all just get along?
