I was hoping it would play the Mad Max and Lego Movie HDR trailers now but alas... Does it even do HDR with USB playback at all?

Has the general m2ts, mkv playback been improved? Can it do 1080p @24Hz now? Bitstreaming Dolby TrueHD and DTSMA?

TIA
N.

wow i cant believe it. you were right. it was actually more like 2 mins for the ub900 to recognise the hard drive. using a seagate external 2tb drive.

the ub900 can now play 4k videos BUT it cant decode dolby true HD or DTS HD MA which sucks

Alight guys, question. I just got this a day ago and haven't had a chance to watch anything on it yet so I put in rogue one blu ray and started watching it, but it just seems like it's moving a bit too fast, not heaps but just noticeable. Have I set something up wrong or is there a setting I need to adjust? I'm a bit of a noob here

Are you watching it with the HDR setting on? when I first started watching films with HDR enabled, it felt like the film was moving faster than normal...

Sounds like you have motion interpolation activated on your TV, which gives the appearance of everything moving unnaturally smooth, fast if you will. Check your TV settings and turn it off, should always be turned off btw IMHO.

I have the player on with the main menu of the Rogue One 3D Blu-ray showing now for a good 20 minutes and it's still on.

Did not touch the remote at all so it seems the automatic standby function has been disabled. I really hope so as I tend to leave the player on while doing something else (like typing here right now ) and then get back to watch a movie.

If I had a plasma or OLED perhaps yes but I see no reason for fear of burn in on LCD.

I actually just had rogue one on pause for over an hour and it was still on when I came back, hopefully that's the end of the standby function.

I can't seem to find that exact setting, but I have auto motion plus, is that the same thing?

I believe that is Samsung's motion interpolation, yes.

Turn it off or use the "low" setting at the most and see what happens. You may experience some judder during panning scenes and perhap sligthly less sharp picture during fast movement on screen now, but that's all inherent with the way movies are shot at 24p. At least it won't move at an unnatural smooth rate and have the dreaded soap opera effect.

Awesome thanks, I've turned it off as it didn't have a low setting. Hopefully that fixes it.

It's your TV, you have some kind of motion thing activated. I have had like no issues with the UB900, great player.

Indeed, it won't play lossless audio when watching from USB. Not a problem for most of my stuff though.

Yes it does. It plays the HDR10 and HLG clips that I've downloaded, albeit converted to SDR in my specific case. The ability to play 4K files in mp4 container has been there since October, the ts and mkv containers were just added in the 13th April update.

Glad it worked out.

And to think there are people who actually prefer this look.

After having it like that for a while I would imagine people would get used to it but I don't think I could.

On a different note, Ive noticed that it doesn't go into standby mode when left on pause anymore, but turns off when the tv is turned off. Step in the right direction I spose. Would prefer if it just stayed on but I can get used to it.
