Yeah I had the player on while doing nothing with it for more over an hour and luckily it did not turn itself off.

If you don't want the player to turn itself off when you turn off the TV, you should disable HDMI CEC (called Viera link on the Panasonic player).

I personally like this feauture.

Awesome I'll give that a go, I might switch it back because it seems like a good feature and the player does start up reasonably quick, just not used to it.Guess it would save having the thing on constantly and potentially wrecking something.

Now all I need to do is fix my TVs blinking problem and I'm all sorted, yay

I have a Samsung tv that blinks every now and then, for a split second. Just goes black then picture comes back, sound stays on though. It sometimes also just restarts itself and turns off then on. I have tried quiet a few things and looked on the internet for a solution but so far I haven't found one.

Picture going black could be an HDMI cable issue. I have the same issue every now and then with my projector though I must mention I use a cheap 15 meter/49 feet cable for that so that could also causing it.

Random reboots of modern day TVs unfortunately is a common day thing, as I am experiencing on my 2016 Sony Android TV far too often. That's why I opt for ditching the "smart" functions on TVs altogether.

Mind if I ask what Samsung TV you have exactly?

It's not not the hdmi cable as I've tried a few different ones and still have the problem unfortunately.

It's a Samsung model UA50KU6000SXNZ, only round a year old. I can handle the problem most of the time but sometimes it just drives me crazy, was hoping it would just be an easy fix but so far not so much.

It sounds like the screen is adjusting when the player switches it's output, some TVs go blank when the display changes from 50hz or 60hz to 24hz. But depending on your TV the info bar should appear to tell you of the change.

But it depends on when the screen is going blank!

I see other Samsung models also suffer from the same problem.

Does it only happen when watching 4K/HDR content or also on other sources?

Are you on the latest firmware? It should be version 1168.3 from what I understand.

You might want to do a factory reset if you haven't done that already. Please keep in mind that by doing this, all your settings will be erased as the TV will return to its facory default settings.

If all fails I would recommend contacting Samsung customer service about this and inform them about your problem. Persistence on your part might be a necessity as custom service sometimes tends to be rather indifferent.

Good luck.

It's on all sources except the tv as far as I can tell, latest firmware as well. I wanted to stay away from the factory reset as I've spent the last few days getting the settings just right for my new set up and I don't really want to do it again lol, plus I probably won't remember half of them.

If it's not on the TV then it might be as I suggested, generally TV signals stay the same hertz, most of your other inputs switch around depending on content.

It just does it randomly, sometime it does it bugger all and some times it does it half a dozen times in the space of 10 seconds, any idea on an easy fix?

That sounds like a handshake issue and not a change with the display. It might be worth writing down your settings and doing a factory reset. The HDMI board might need replacing eventually, if it's not a handshake problem.

Just watched a bit of tv and it blinked a few times when I was watching that, haven't reset anything yet though. Looks like something is wrong with the tv

I have a problem that i`d like you to help me with.
When I'm watching 50i blurays (British, Swedish TV-series) there is anomaly that goes slowly from bottom of the screen to top. The picture looks like its cut in half and little out of sync.
Have mest up my settings on the player or TV?
Player is Panasonic 900 and TV Samsung UE65JS8505

Been saying this for months, since I was an SDR 2020 user at one point, but the fanboys won't have it...

Great vid, and it confirms what I've been saying for a while re: the excellent downconversion of the Panny. Might as well quote myself from Velvet's SDR thread:

Its funny, people get all pissy when you point it out, but folks that have used both know. Oppo hasnt been getting their ass kissed on the 203, maybe it will wake em up a bit.

Which Panny do you have? UB900 or UB700?

900, but the 700's video output is identical as far as I can tell, having owned both.
