The large, awkward packaging probably has something to do with it. More time is needed to figure out how best to ship the set. All I can do is hope they use a faster shipping method to compensate for the slowness.

I'll gladly take a UK boxset.
I really hope Psycho II gets a lot of attention, one of the best sequels ever.

The Scream one looks fine, I'd love a really in depth documentary

Not sarcasm - true, surreal story - I actually had lunch with PSYCHO II director Richard Franklin here in Melbourne way back in 2003, after he wrote to me pleased about some things I'd written about him on a local Hitchcock forum. He called my home phone, left his details, we got in touch, I went out to his place just out of Melbourne, said hi to his wife, then we had a bite to eat and coffee at a cafe. He was very friendly but spoke for nearly the whole hour, telling me his frustration with Screen Australia mucking him around on his latest movie (VISITORS). He asked how much HD cameras were to rent, and mentioned he was a huge fan of the Kevin Spacey fan BEYOND THE SEA. There was also a play he was looking to adapt, and Geoffrey Rush had agreed to be in it. When we finished he mentioned I would probably be cold walking off in the top I had on, and offered to loan me one of his own jumpers from his flat, suggesting I just post it back to him afterwards. He got the article of clothing and then walked me to the tram, and was still chatting non-stop as the tram pulled up and I hopped on. He gave me a wave as the tram rang its bell and then turned to walk back to his place. Just a lovely guy. I love PSYCHO 2 and if Arrow do it justice I'll be very happy to buy it. It's a bit sad Richard isn't around to see it happen though - I think he would have been very pleased to see Arrow bring it out.

He also taught at the University I go to and we were showing clips from his earlier films today in an Australia film lecture, I've heard many wonderful stories about him from his time teaching there. Such a shame he's passed on, he would have been wonderful to chat with about his films.

Well, another nice story I heard - Mark Hartley was visiting Richard's place when Richard was very ill, not too many months before he passed away. This was for the NOT QUITE HOLLYWOOD doco. There were Hitchcock DVD's around the floor - some of the then-recently released Warner DVD's with the individual documentaries about each Hitchcock film - and Richard had evidently been watching and enjoying them. As they wrapped up, it turned out that Richard had a copy of the complete script for KALEIDOSCOPE - the late 60's serial killer film that Hitchcock had started work on, but abandoned. "That's a pretty rare script.." said Mark. "Please, take it!" said Richard, and gave it to him. I expect he would have been a really cool and generous teacher. I also once saw a DVD short made by URBAN LEGENDS director Jamie Blanks, a few years before he began making big features. Richard had contributed an enthusiastic blurb to the back cover, praising Jamie's direction. Great bloke and I expect if he'd lived he would have embraced the cheaper HD cameras that came out not long after he passed away and begun making cool thrillers again.

He was a Hitchcock scholar & actually spent time on the set of some of Hitchcock's last films.

I know, but it was nice to see him still enthusiastic about his work. Bigger surprise for me today - checking Wikipedia, he was USC mates with John Carpenter, and was a drummer in Ross Wilson's first band here in Australia. All this makes me realise I don't own the ROAD GAMES Blu and should pick it up.

If Arrow have somehow got the original and can give it the 4k remaster treatment and one of their books, I will indeed have one of the heart attacks Fran Simeoni was predicting!

Marc Walkow tweeted that another Japanese film will be announced this week. It also sounds like it will be more Fukasaku or Chiba, or both.

Under the Flag of the Rising Sun, or go home.

Only kidding, I'll realistically buy any Fukasaku they put out. Probably any Chiba as well!

EDIT: Actually, you know what? I reckon it'll be Sympathy for the Underdog, the one they accidentally leaked in the last lot of announcements (posting the wrong specs on Facebook/Arrow Store). Or a least the video essay was called something like that anyway...

If Fukasaku alone, I think Wolves, Pigs and Men is probable at some point; if both, a UK release of Message from Space is my guess. But obviously there are lots of possibilities.

Indeed. I find the movie extremely appealing and entertaining, and have been waiting for an HD upgrade myself.

How long has the hmv 5 for 30 deal been going on? I just looked through it and found mostly 88 films releases and only a few arrow releases included in the offer.

I wonder if Argento's Cat O' Nine Tails will be of the July titles?
