I also believe that once "Gun Fury" is issued, that's about the last we'll see from Columbia/Sony. The 4 titles they've issued so far were all restored and 3D mastered for DCP over 3 years ago and nothing has been done since. I think we've got all of their "important ones". And as for Wade Williams 3 3D titles, his having been publicly shamed, you can add his spite to his greed!

I do believe we will see the majority if not all of Universal's 6 titles and the same goes for Paramount's. Even "Hondo" and "Money from Home"; those license agreements do have time limits. Also the same for the United Artists films, and even maybe Fox and TT will get it together for "Gorilla at Large". Overall it's my firm conviction that we'll see about half of the 50 "Golden Age" titles in the next few years.
I agree with that estimate out of the 50 1950s 3D films we will see at least 20 released by the end of the decade. There is eleven out at the moment with Redheads from Seattle and Ceasefire planned for release and 4 more The Maze, Sangaree, Jivaro, and Flight to Tangier are I think on the cards from Kino and Gun Fury and Gorilla At Large from Twilight Time.

I, the Jury, Hondo and Money From Home potentially when licence come up

Grover Crisp hasn't as far as I now produced masters for the 5 remaining Columbia, Wade Willaims has 3, Warner Brothers has 12, Universal has 4, also there is MGM/UA with 4 fims though two of those films are incomplete so highly doubtful we will see those.

You might want to say that Warner has 11. The 3D version of "The Command" doesn't really exist. It's not lost, it's just that it never has existed. All Warner has is the OCN's and probably a back up safety master. While the OCN's are great source materials for restoration, there's a lot more to a film. Editing, opticals, working prints, internegatives and/or interpositives, and with no release print, there's probably no sound track. The poor longevity of mag sound recordings (and they would need tracks all separately) basically means having to create all the parts (music, sound effects/foley work, dialogue) from scratch. And trying to adapt the 'scope version sound track would be extremely difficult and expensive, considering that that track probably only exists in mono optical on a release print. Ain't gonna happen folks. If somebody knowledgeable from Warner really knows different for sure, I would love to stand corrected!

Default MONEY FROM HOME Blu-Ray in May

NOTE: There is a page up on Best Buy's website for a Blu-Ray release of the 1954 Martin and Lewis comedy MONEY FROM HOME. At this writing, it is not clear whether the proposed Blu-Ray release is in 3-D.

Speaking frankly, we would not accept THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD, GONE WITH THE WIND, or BLACK NARCISSUS in black and white. We would not accept THIS IS CINERAMA, BEN-HUR, or LAWRENCE OF ARABIA in pan-and-scan. We who are serious about film and who respect the original intent of filmmakers really cannot accept MONEY FROM HOME in 2-D, and we should respectfully speak up.

MONEY FROM HOME is an historically significant 3-D title. By my reckoning, it's one of four prestige 3-D titles released during the holiday season of 1953-'54. It was hoped in some circles that the combined impact of KISS ME KATE, HONDO, MISS SADIE THOMPSON, and MONEY FROM HOME would turn the tide of public opinion decisively in favor of well-handled 3-D.

MONEY FROM HOME is a fun, colorful film with gorgeous 3-D, very well done from a technical perspective. This is especially remarkable given that it is one of two films shot using Technicolor's own proprietary 3-D rig, which involved dual 3-strip color cameras. That's six bands of film going through the rig at once!

If Olive Films does intend releasing MONEY FROM HOME in 2-D, they have surely come to this decision without weighing how much enthusiastic support they will receive from the collecting community if they release the Blu-Ray in 3-D. I think it behooves us to get in contact with Olive Films, to very respectfully impress upon them that a 2-D-only release is unacceptable but a 3-D release would receive our wholehearted support.

Thank you for your efforts, Bob, relating to Money from Home 3D. That would've been something if Olive Films accepted it for a blu ray 3D release.

Thanks Mike for your post and information. I didn't know Money From Home was a 3D film but hopefully with enough 3D comments to the video licensor, Money From Home will be released on blu ray 3D, even if in a limited edition release.

Olive's Money From Home blu-ray is probably using the same 2D master that's already aired for HDTV broadcasts. Failure to give a 3D restoration would be a massive mistake, not taking advantage of this title's best artistic feature and full selling potential.

I was hoping Kino Lorber would receive the rights to this after Legend's deal ended. Maybe Olive will have a change of heart. E-mail sent.

That is a great amount of influential support. Hopefully the 3D fans will write in next, and cement your efforts towards a blu ray 3D restoration of Money from Home 3D. Thank you, Bob.

It's set for release on 5/30 at Best Buy for $19.99. I would love to see this in 3D. I'm sure they will sell a lot of copies for that price.

Sad, very sad.

It's a shame Olive didn't go for it. I'm surprised though considering they did release your work on Dragonfly Squadron, unless that didn't sell all that well...

E-mail sent as well. I really hope it pans out and they decide to do this right. Even if they go back and do a Signature release later on in 3D, I'd be happy with that.

We presented 15 minutes of MONEY FROM HOME in 3-D at the Museum of Modern Art in New York on three different occasions: July 30, 2015 in their Glorious Technicolor series and March 2/March 12 in their 90th birthday salute to Jerry Lewis.

https://www.moma.org/calendar/events/1215?locale=en

https://www.moma.org/calendar/events/1870?locale=en

We were prepared to restore the complete film in 3-D at that time...

Olive e-mailed me back, saying their current 2017 blu-ray of Money From Home is the standard 2D version, and their goal is to make it available in HD as soon as possible.

Thanks. Same here. They mentioned it was carefully restored to HD to honor the comedy of Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis for 2017. Hopefully they'll reconsider a blu ray 3D version for late 2017 or 2018, even though their current response mentions nothing of any potential consideration for a 3D version.

Either way, it's better when every 3D fan sends them an email asking for a 3D version restoration so they know there's a demand for it.

Thanks for the link, Bob. I see 322 Exhibitors mentioned they did well back in the day by releasing the 3D version in theaters. Thanks for that news article.
A 3D version restored would be the best way to experience the film (compared to flat 2D), as if you were almost there, seeing all of the 3D depth, volume and dimension of Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin's onscreen comedy. I agree.
