Watched this today and I actually enjoyed it. Obviously, not as good as the original and felt a bit rushed at times, but all in all, it was a fun little movie. The 3D was pretty solid throughout too.

Boy, they sure make it hard to get this title. After not even offering pre-orders, Amazon now has the purchase of "Poltergeist" allowed only for Prime members.

Amazon is fighting with Fox at the moment so they are only serving their Prime customers with stock.

Movie trivia:
Found it interesting that the movie "Poltergeist 3D" was only the second feature 3D film for Kyle Catlett who plays Griffin Bowen.
His first 3D feature film debut was the 2013 adventure drama "The Young and Prodigious T.S Spivet", also 3D, where he played T. S. Spivet.

Yes he got a much better chance to shine in Spivet, a very capable young actor.

I watched this in 3D over the weekend, and I guess I don't have much to add. The 3D was really solid, and used nicely (the drone was an obvious but fun gimmicky in-your-face shot) here and there. Though it was a conversion, it was done well, and looking at the way shots were framed and executed, the director clearly had 3D in mind from the start, which is always helpful.

It's just a shame that the movie ends up being ultimately unnecessary. I had some hope in the beginning because they did a good job of making the characters likable and relatable like in the first one. But when the spooky stuff happens and the girl is abducted, it just goes from 0 to 60 without blinking and throws any sense of subtlety out the window. The pacing is terrible.

It's not awful, but the original is WAY better.

I really detest fools using these term. Do you call CGI gimmicky? What about music?

Yes, sometimes CGI and music can be gimmicky. It all depends on how it is used.

Good to see. Post your thoughts on the 3D.

I'll be checking this out finally, soon. I didn't see it in theaters as there were other movies playing that took priority during that time.

Thumbs up

Enjoy.

----------
Poltergeist 3D: Converted from 2D to 3D by Legend 3D.
3D Layers: 9/10. Mostly high medium to strong 3D layers. Some medium.
3D Pop out count: 5/10. A decent amount of pop outs.
3D Framing: 8/10. The camera framing of most shots look great in 3D.

3D Conversion Total: 9/10. An excellent high medium to strong 3D conversion that went well beyond my expectations. There is only one shot at the end of the film that they didn't convert to 3D as the car drives off with a close up inside. The strong 3D opening house shot with the weeping tree in the foreground will give you an idea of what to expect with this conversion.

The movie caught me off guard more than I expected also, and was tense and exciting most times. The evil spirits were ghastly to my liking in this film.
If you want a tense 3D horror movie with stronger 3D, this is a must buy.

Watched it today.

3D: I liked the depth and a few pop-outs so I was generally satisfied but not overly impressed.

Movie: I miss Carol Anne's Theme.

I just got this in the mail and realized I must have rented it before. I don't remember if I saw it in 3d but I remember being disappointed in Sam Rockwell's performance, an actor I usually like a lot.

Thanks.

Is Sam Rockwell the father? His performance was interesting in that he stayed very calm and collected even when chairs were flying. He calmly said with some sarcasm to the guy with the video camera (paraphrased) "See that, did you get that on your little video recorder?" Then he walks out of the room more concerned about proving his point than the fact a chair flew into the wall.

The 3D was great in my view.

Yes he is the father. He played the farm hand in the Green Mile and Justin Hammer in Iron Man 2 as well. I can't wait to pop this in.

Hi guys,

Saw it on HBO demand 3D. Wasn't bad for a remake and the 3D was good, however, it not being viewed on Blu Ray I don't know if the 3D had any more punch due to 1080i cable limitations that could affect it.
