Nice one.

More details here: http://shop.bfi.org.uk/dvd-blu-ray/b...ipside-33.html

As always the extras look pretty interesting, but I do hope Sean Connery's Edinburgh is more interesting than the tourist film puff piece the description makes it sound like.

Yeah, has been listed for a while now - as has Stockholm My Love.

Strange they don't announce these formally on their site anymore, and instead trickle in via Amazon listings, BBFC submissions or mentions in other press releases.

Possible safeguard as to when things go awry; Eyes Without a Face, Wages of Fear and their interminable delays.

The projected Scorsese twin release of Who's That Knocking At My Door? & Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore on blu-ray which didn't transpire.

I guess so. In the case of the Scorsese titles, I noticed they later revised the news story to remove all mention of them being Dual Format, but obviously previously press releases couldn't be changed at that point.

I believe The Wages of Fear is still going to show up over the Summer, it's just whether it's July or September at this point. I hope we aren't kept waiting too much longer, since it's obviously been delayed for almost 2 years now (18 months at least).

Am I correct in thinking that the upcoming release of Ophuls' Madame de ... is absolutely bare-bones? Surely that's a (regrettable) BFI first?

Nope, the specs just haven't been finalised yet.

Cohen have now confirmed that BFI will be the UK label releasing their restoration (with corrected aspect ratio) of Howard's End.

Considering current blu-ray production turn around times, conceivably yes.

Oh wow, I just saw BFI are releasing Film/Not Film! SO happy with that. The fact it was released in two separate 23 dollar blu-rays in the US annoyed me enough to not cough up, but 19 quid for both in one release is most welcome indeed!

As an uber Keaton fan, and especially compared to the pricey Milestone releases, 19 is more than fine with me! Price drop would be even better though, of course :P

Does anyone have the BFI restoration of SCROOGE?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Scrooge-DVD...ds=scrooge+dvd

I'm wondering how it compares to the American Blu rays.
The fact that it only got a DVD release has me concerned.

I've only just realised that the Scorseses did appear, but apparently on DVD only. What went wrong? Are the transfers - or original materials - so poor as to preclude HD presentation?

It was an issue with the rights I believe.

Rights? Nah I think it was a materials issue. For some reason the BFI seemed to think they were being supplied with HD masters from Warner Bros, but when they showed up it was clear they weren't suitable for Blu-ray so they had to make them DVD-only.
