Strange because I've heard it is shown on TCM uncut.

I can't see any legal reason why Disney won't release The Black Hole. They made it and own it and have released it on DVD in the past, as well as licensing it out to Anchor Bay. They just don't seem to want to release it on blu-ray, which is a crying shame. This film deserves a good blu-ray release, and considering it was nominated for an Oscar for visual effects, it's puzzling why Disney hates it so much. Money, I guess. It's got problems but it's still hugely ambitious and has a lot going for it. I'd love to see some new interviews with the surviving cast and crew, and you just know there's deleted footage and behind the scenes stuff shot - there's tons of behind-the-scenes photos out there. But I guess a proper blu-ray will never happen.

I am still holding onto my DVD until it does.

What do you guys think about Targets from 68'? With all that has happened over the last decade do you feel this is a film companies may not want to touch? I know Massacre at Central High was in a similar situation but Synapse apparently is doing it.

I don't know what the story is on this, but "The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz" has never even got a letterboxed release on DVD or Blu-ray anywhere and it is a widescreen film. I heard some Canadian film board remastered years ago, but nothing ever came of it.

I own the Anchor Bay and Disney DVDs. I also own the SelectaVision disc just for collectability (the cover art is awesome). Frustratingly, The Black Hole appears to have an HD master because it's been aired in HD on TV and looked pretty stunning. On blu-ray I bet it could look much better if done right. They just won't let us give them our money for it.

Looking For Mr. Goodbar is shown all the time on one of the movie channels I subscribe to in Canada. Now, I don't know if there are any music changes on those showings but the TV (and VHS) rights were likely negotiated long before DVD and blu-ray came on the scene so it's likely too cost prohibitive to re-negotiate for those formats.

What about Watcher In The Woods?
I know Disney gave Anchor Bay the movie once before making their own DVD.

I absolutely can't stand the thought of titles not getting a release due to "what's been going on in the past decade". There's other titles I'm concerned about along those lines as well.

Just waiting for Disney to make an HD master, no legal or rights issues at all. It could be like Return to Oz and end up a DMC exlusive. Ooh, then there will still be complaints.

Savage Harvest (1981) presents a difficulty for Blu-ray release due to the use of Beatles music in the film. It's not just the use of a song that can be switched with another for a disc release, sadly. There's an actual scene in the movie where the characters, who are trapped in a house surrounded by hungry lions, are singing Beatles songs to cheer one another up.

I saw this movie on HBO when I was 10 years old, and it was one of the pivotal experiences that helped to shape my appreciation of horror cinema. I'd love to see it again in a presentable format.

I'm going to see Paul McCartney in concert here in Atlanta in July. If, by some miraculous chance, I end up seeing him up close in person, then I'll have to let him know that the entire world is waiting on the edge of its seat for a high definition release of this movie.

You might want to prod him a bit on LET IT BE while you're at it. Talk about a film being held up by legal (or is it ego?) issues.

The disastrous combination of The Samuel Goldwyn Company, Paramount and (especially) Rysher Entertainment obliterates the already little chance of Hard Eight seeing a Blu-Ray release.

An even bigger shame is that we'll never see PTA's original 150min cut that was only screened at Cannes.

The film looked great in HD when I saw it on Netflix.

Default The Grey Fox (1982)

I saw this years ago The Grey Fox (1982) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085622/?ref_=nv_sr_1 .

Would like to see a blu-ray release.

Apparently Panamint tried recently, but to no avail. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...=265266&page=2

To each their own. I wouldn't call that a legal issue, I'd call that a business decision by the company, even if I may not agree with said decision.

Does anyone know if the reason why Can't Buy Me Love has not been released on blu is really due to the music rights?

What about public domain titles that nobody wants to restore to HD quality because then the release will just be swiped for other releases? Is that a "copyright issue"?
