The skeleton crew of a dig site remain over the weekend as they continue with research into a mummy they’ve found. One of them takes the research a little too far, performing a ritual to bring the spirit of the mummy back to life.

I know, that's why I was surprised. Release day is the 9th. They had like 10 copies and this is the first 3D title my WM has had in months.

I only made through about the first 40 min or so before I shut it off. The 3D has been pretty good. No major pop outs or anything but pretty decent depth. The acting is pretty terrible though. The sound is downright awful. Unless someone changed settings on my receiver this is only in stereo. I just woke from a nap and I'm going to see if I can finish it now.

Ok I finished it. This was a terrible movie. It was extremely boring. Nothing really happened until the last 30 or so minutes. The gore special effects were pretty cool. There was some 3D boobs and camel toe but, a good movie they did not make. For a title called American Mummy it is severely lacking in the mummy department. If you are thinking you're going to see a Mummy mummying about prepare to be severely disappointed. They should of stuck with the Aztec Blood title. From what I could find while searching for a review it seems this is supposed to be part of a trilogy. I doubt we will ever see the other parts. I've blown $15 on worse things but I doubt I'll ever watch this again.

Dam , I guess I'll form my own opinion when I get it in the mail next week. Not sounding too good though. Thanks for your review!

I haven't seen it, but I'm almost certain they changed the title to match the timing of June's The Mummy 3D in theaters.

So the 3D is strong, medium? It said Ultra 3D from the reports.

Quote from Fangoria "Already an Audience Award winner at Australia’s Revelation Film Festival, AZTEC BLOOD also played Mexico City’s Macabro last year (under the AMERICAN MUMMY title) will hopefully have U.S. fest dates soon. Pinion tells Fango, “The movie was shot in 3D to be seen in 3D, which is both a blessing and a curse. I’m submitting it now in 2D to various fests, but some shots are just so much more fun in 3D!” See the movie’s official website (as MUMMY) here and look for more on AZTEC BLOOD soon!"

I'd say the 3d is very strong. They probably did. I was taking a good look at the cover when I was putting the disc back in and the way and type of Mummy used on the cover makes it look like one of the old Brandon Frasier Mummy movies. This movie is nothing like those.

Thanks for the review Darkkrisp, I think I will give this one a miss but at least you gave me a laugh with: "There was some 3D boobs and camel toe" description.

Good to hear they filmed for strong 3D, thanks.

I found this at walmart last week while looking for another movie. The 6.3 score on imdb made me curious. Also the creepy mummy crawling in the blu ray cover. The acting is pretty bad. The first half is slow , and full of pointless attempts at humor. The soundtrack is bad especially during the attempts at humor. Halfway through the movie turns gory and creepy, and it even travels into the slasher genre a bit. Check it out at your own risk. Gore hounds will probably enjoy it.

My room mate and I watched AM last night. We had a grand ole time watching this. We thought it was a fun B horror flick. The 3D was great with a few cool pop-outs too! If you enjoy horror and 3D I would definitely recommend this. It is definitely worth the $15 price tag.

Probably a stupid question but I'm assuming this release is very region locked to A?
