Sorry this isn't Criterion related but sad news about Mary Tsoni RIP.

Always sad to see news like this, especially so young.

On subject of Criterion, Dogtooth would fit nicely in collection...

I didn't participate in the last Criterion sale, so I've got a long wish list for the next one:

Stalker
L'argent
The Lodger

Taipei Story ( I guess I have to buy the entire box to get this. )
Tampopo
His Girl Friday
The Asphalt Jungle
The Umbrellas of Cherbourg

Anything I should avoid on this list because it will only lead to inevitable disappointment? I've only seen the ones in bold.

Shame he participated in that awful shambles that was 47 Ronin

I would recommend people buy the collected edition released from Dark Horse Comics of 47 Ronin and illustrated by none other than Usagi Yojimbo's Stan Sakai

I felt the same when Criterion chose to release Jellyfish Eyes over the multiple more deserving Japanese films they have.

On a related Godardian note, I just got Anna Karina tattooed on my arm. It's still healing, so I haven't got a good pic, but this gives you an idea.

Sweet. Glad I waited. I had the Le Petit Soldat DVD. Criterion ya'll about to lose my money on the Godard upgrades...does this just leave Masculin Feminin without and upgrade (for his first wave era)? or is it in the set too. I forgot.

I'm surprised Criterion have not released The Elephant Man or Blue Velvet yet
Can't see FWWM ever getting released though

This would look great as a 1080p supplement on an August release of Red Beard.

Current Blue Velvet release is fine. I doubt there is anything else to add to the movie.

Just finished re-watching the entire Before Trilogy.

My appreciation hasn't diminished anything at all for these three wonderful films, I still rate them in the same order as before though:

Before Sunset
Before Midnight
Before Sunrise

Not that sunrise is bad it's just that the others are so good, while Sunrise is very good all over the place it still doesn't manage to have the same kind of outstanding scenes as the others in my opinion like Sunset with the car conversation or Midnight with pretty much the last half hour but specially the ending.

My only small disappointment is with Before Sunset PQ, it is quite soft and the colors in some of the scenes look quite hideous in my opinion, but I guess that's the way it's always been, never saw it on theaters but I guess these are quite low budget films, but just was surprised that Sunrise looked better.

Anyway I noticed something weird about these series of movies were we see characters grow old on screen, a very similar equivalent would be Antoine Doinel, and to a similar extent Apu.

Isn't it weird than in all these 3 cases, the main character at some point not only start writing but his writing is in a way autobiographical? considering these works are already kind of autobiographical (well maybe not Apu Trilogy but the book it's based on is) I just find it funny how meta that is .

Yeah I could go for a 4K remaster for Blue Velvet along with a properly framed documentary unlike the current release with the new supposed anniversary doc as well. That would make a stunning Criterion release.

The release does have one glaring omission...no Criterion number.

I just want Criterion to get cracking on Blu-ray releases for Stray Dog and Drunken Angel.

Kurosawa noir is where it's at.

I have a 60" Samsung LED television.

Whenever I play a criterion 2K restoration disc I have a "tan line" at the top of the screen. It is darker than the rest of the movie or brighter depending on how you describe colors.

It is only on Criterion collection discs. Does anyone know what this night be? The "tan like" is about 1/4" thick.

The Squid and The Whale
Pan's Labyrinth....
