I know they are not an option for all of us, my speakers are not in-ceiling. nor am I not wanting folks to be, creative. I just stated I don't have experience with the Dolby upfiring speaker modules so I couldn't comment.

again, I'm sure someone who does use the Dolby upfiring speaker modules will chime in to speak to them.

Anyone have any issues connecting a brand new out of the box 4k blu ray player to their Denon that works for everything else. I heard there may be a setting on the 4k player I need to fix for it to work. I have it set up correctly. Guess I will have to check when I get the remote for the blu ray player in the mail that somehow was not sent in the box lol

Just upgraded x2000 to x3200. Using PS4 on Linear PCM and all I get now on the x3200 is Multi Ch In 7.1. It says multi channel in whether it is DD or DTS MA. Do I change the sound setting every time or Bitstream from PS4? How can I tell that I am getting HD audio? What does Pure mode do? I appreciate the help.

In order for your AVR to display DTS-MA, you must set all standalone Blu-ray player's too Bitstream, and then turn the secondary audio OFF. I'm not sure about secondary audio on PS4 player's, but if able to do so, then turn it OFF. Now you will see on your AVR display DTS-MA. You are lucky too have the PS4 player, because it does offer Bitstream, which the other's did only PCM. The Pure/Direct mode is a feature for 2-channel music listening, which allow's you too listen without any of the AVR's processing such as Audyessey, Bass management etc., which enhance's the audio. It's basicly what it say's it is, which in that mode, all processing done by the AVR too enhance the audio is not available. Some of the Audiophile's use this setting when listening too Album's on Turntable's. It's just a personal preference. I hope this help's my friend .

I have just upgraded my TV to a LG 49 Inch HDR LED TV (49UH6100), and I was wondering how to pass though the video on my Denon AVR 2313CI, so that the TV is doing the up scaling and not the AVR

I cant find the pass-though option in the AVR settings, just an auto setting and settings for all supported resolutions. It will be nice to know how so change this setting so I can play around with it and see if i like the TV up scaling or the AVR up scaling more

Thanks

Remember that when you disable the scaler you also lose the transparent on-screen menu option

I also learned that the device has to be HDMI 1.4 to do pass-through video. One thing I thought would happen is that the TV would upscale once the video passed though, but that does not seem to be the case yet.

what I thought would be possible is that if I passed though the video, the TV would upscale to 4K 60hz, as the TV can do so, but that does not seem to be the case.

What I have been doing is running the avr at 4K 30hz (its the highest it can do) and then turning on 120hz true motion, when I feel in the mood. ( I know most people don't like the feature and it's not proper for film, but I seem to enjoy it, I enjoy both true 4k 24hz and 4K fake 120hz.)

For video games If I want the video up scaled to 4K, I have to turn on 120hz motion, other wise video-games become unplayable, unless I go back down to 1080P 60hz.

I am going to have to get a new AVR if I want to play any of my 4K Blu-Rays in the future as the 2313CI does not support HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2. It only does 4K 30hz via HDMI 1.4, It would be nice if it would work for 4K Blu-Rays, because all you need is 4K 24hz for movies, and I could keep using this AVR longer.

I have had this AVR for 5 plus years and it still works like it did day one, I love it and don't want to stop using it, but I will have to one day.
When I am ready to get a new AVR I want to get a Denon AVR with HDMI 2.1 and all its bells and whistles.

While watching a blu-ray I have tested by shutting the i/p scale off on the AVR, the blu-ray showed its defaulted 1080P and not 2160p when you press the tv info button, as it does when the AVR is set to Auto or 4K.

You mean when playing a UHD bluray or a standard bluray?

In that case with scaler off and reading source as 1080p that does mean that tv is doing upscaling, not avr. If you set scaler to auto or 4k then AVR will be doing upscaling

Alight that's what I thought was happening, I just assumed that when the tv is doing the upscaling it would show it as 2160p, and not 1080P. Regardless I prefer the AVR doing the upscaling atm.

No, 1080p info display means tv is doing upscaling. What tv do you have?

Ok so in your case avr set to auto or 4K will be doing the upscaling. Set it to off and tv will. I have a LG Oled C6 and in my case I prefer the tv to upscale, but it's all panel related and personal preference

Correct, this i already knew, but i assumed that if the tv was doing they upscaling it would show it as 2160P, but that is not correct, as you have shown me, If I have the tv do the upscaling it will show max resolution of the device connected eg 1080p, but i can be assured, its upscaling to 4K, this is good to know.

Thank you for your help and advice

After going to see GoG vol 2 and Wonder Woman in IMAX theater I can honestly say that my Denon set wjth DEQ on and Dynamic Volume on light makes my room sound as good as IMAX but with an even cleaner sound
