Updates on stock levels are few and far between.

However, if you order it when it is listed as having a slip you'll get it with one. They go out of stock for a while once the slip editions are sold out.

I love that slip. So much that this is my first order directly from 88 Films.

Finally get to see another film from the director of the sorely underrated "Blue Sunshine".

Glad my waiting to order incase it included a slip on their site paid off, even if they did tell me it was happening on the main 88 thread.

The exact poster art I wanted on the front and on the reverse, and £13 and early shipping sweetened the deal, even if the shipping cost me £6

Ordered. Cost me £16 inc delivery. But it'll be worth it for that slip

I don't think you will regret it. The locations are awesome! It had to have been a rough shoot. Great music. Nice slow burn pace. The less you know about the movie the more enjoyable your first viewing will be. IMO. Avoid spoilers and probably this thread until you watch it.

I wonder if 88 Films really are going to be shipping it out today.

Haven't had a dispatch notice yet, but they do sometimes come through quite late into the evening.

Would have been good to get this for the bank holiday weekend but it does seem awfully soon after the announcement for it to start shipping...

The blu ray release wasn't a massive run, had no distribution, available only directly, or through places given left over stock like Diabolik and Screen Archives, where it costs $30 USD before exorbitant international shipping from all retailers. On top of this, for the many years it was originally available only from Bill, I would call it's availability schizophrenic. Some days it's there, some days its's gone, some days the whole shop is gone, when it goes up there's only a few copies at a time, some weeks Bill will ship internationally, some days (and absolutely currently for a while) he won't ship internationally.

On top of this, it should be extremely difficult to make a worse disc. Bill's disc is poorly authored on a BD25 with two separate cuts, leading to the transfers suffering from compression artifacts, which are exacerbated by the soft focus of the film. On top of this, the bonus international cut with the extra scenes has 0 colour correction and excessive damage, and if not for the extra material in it, would be little more than a novelty. Also, if it matters to people, no subtitles.

With 88, we already know we will receive a nice range of extras, both cuts, subtitles, better audio format, and a BD50 disc allowing for far better compression. It would be very very difficult for this release to be worse, or even equal.
All of this intense and excessive prognostication over a blu ray will be nothing more than a fart in the wind when the disc finally comes out..

Hardly a fart in the wind when all the info about the Code Red blu is true and all the info about the 88 Films blu we know from announced specs and info from 88

I'm not sure if you are one of "the many" that has an endless bone to pick with Code Red, but, you are being just a little unreasonable in your trashing of Code Reds JBD.

It was literally the first blu ray they released. All companies start off in high def on shaky ground, it took arrow about 4 or 5 years to grow into a company that uniformly releases great work. Shameless is still stuck in the doldrum. 88 films is more miss than hit.

So jumping all over Just Before Dawn as some huge failure is the equivalent of trashing Arrow video in the present for a release from 2011.

So common sense should tell us that 88 shouldn't have to knock this one out of the park to best the old Code Red release, however, you mention some magical color correction that the international cut is supposedly receiving when it is a well known fact that 88 films NEVER color corrects their releases which is why they all appear as though the colorist was enjoying a mustard dog and spilled some on the scanning equipment.

With all that said, I will be picking up this release providing the screen caps show a definitive improvement, and if it holds up in motion as well, and if it fails in those categories than yes I will be correct about the wind and the fart.

I think you've missed my point. I bought that blu on release and also bought over 20 Code Red blus until Bill made it too difficult for me to buy them any more being an international consumer.

Not only was it his first blu, but it's also the first blu of the film, and I'm very happy to have it and still watch it regularly.

But the fact is, in the question of whether the 88 Films blu will be better, well it would be damn difficult for it not to be, as I've clearly shown.

On the topic of colour correction, we were saying that would be the only way the international cut could look better is if there's colour correction, but as you stated, they don't even colour correct main features, let alone special features.

It seems to me that rather than us trashing Code Red, which I know I at least have not instead just looking objectively at the blu Ray we currently have, that you're more defending Code Red. The only thing I have against Code Red is the difficulty in obtaining most of their releases that interest me as an international customer.

88 certainly isn't without flaw. There's actually quite the extensive list of 88 releases with flaws, some which have been replaced, some which haven't. Just like early Arrow. Looking back now, if someone said what's better, an old Arrow release of Bird with the Crystal Plumage, or the new upcoming release, I'm going to tell everyone that the old Arrow release, which I own, have enjoyed and watched many times, is also objectively not very good due to scanner noise and being in the wrong AR

Don't rewrite history, Code Red once sold in Best Buys and nutsack basement dwellers still no buy. Code Red is simple blue collar west coast label not fancy European company that can steal Master and put blu out region free on amazon and sell 20,000 copies. Guess Code Red should no longer pay for extras because people complain

Sad to say...
