You guys still don't get it do you? I see Sony are releasing watered down movies on digital now. Airline/edited for tv versions. Oh my goodness. Things really are going from bad to worse. How long before they are the released version and we pay extra for the uncensored version?

Umm, You can still watch the original version of these Sony movies on Vudu.

That's just an extra version that was added as an option if you want to watch movies as a family or something and don't want any swearing/violence.

So all that was added was this "Vudu extra" which let's you watch the "clean version", if you so wish. Nothing was removed or taken away.

It is partly due to retailers like Walmart who stock about 80% DVD 20% Blu-ray, which makes Blu-ray look like something a casual shopper should ignore.

In order to really appreciate Streaming lots of Bandwidth is needed.

Yeah, DVD will be a thing of the past in a few years. It's still widely used, especially with large families. Collectors like myself (I believe) are more than happy to upgrade yo 4K, with the Bluray included. It's the best of all worlds. By the time I get my set up (4K screen, Oppo etc.) there should be a big collection of films I can get stuck into. 4K is doing well I hear and haven't Disney just confirmed they are onboard?
So you guys have FTTC, and now the UK came in first for Wireless Speeds.

https://www.dslreports.com/shownews/...-Speeds-139719

No wonder you think Mobile Access is The Future, because for Quality Streaming HD and 4K you need Consistent High Bandwidth that only FTTH can achieve. I see the narrow thinking of some Countries that Mobile will take over, but it should be a Balance between Wired Fiber and Wireless. I think here in The States Google opened our eyes to this fact, and I'm banking on AT&T and Verizon to pick up the slack to give us FTTH.

Not the case at all. I can get very robust 1080p on Netflix absolutely no problem. I can also get 4K. Heck, I could get 720p consistently on a 2.8 Mbps connection before I upgraded to fibre.

I have thousands of both, but will only watch the digital version if there's no available Blu-ray option. I don't watch movies on the go, so I prefer the best possible video and audio I can get on my TV. At this point my digital collection is mostly a backup in case some unspeakable thing happened to my physical collection.

I was watching some HDX movies on Vudu recently that had no Blu-rays or had Blu-ray releases in other countries and I didn't want to import. Stuff like The Ring Two, The Grudge 2, The Glass House, and The Haunting (1999). The picture quality was worse with each movie. They honestly looked like upscaled DVDs. Joy Ride 2 looked worse than a DVD. There's some serious video quality issues with many older movies.

Yep but I don't buy many discs anymore. Slowly converting my collection to digital. I will keep the Blu-ray movies I really love: Star Wars, LOTR, Marvel, DC and a few others.

Nobody buys DVD's on eBay, even Blu-rays are hard to sell. 4K is the Hot Ticket, especially when Bundled with Blu-ray. Your Streaming setup must be very poor with slow Copper ISP and a Visio HDTV, because of the bad Audio and PQ. I mainly watch 4K and HDX Digital Movies Early Releases, and I think the Audio and PQ is Outstanding. I do have FTTH with 75Mbps Symmetrical. I watched Fist Fight last night, and tonight I'm watching Life.

What you don't want to hear, or acknowledge, is that people who owned the digital versions of these films all got new alternate versions that may suit their families better and for no additional cost. Can't do that with a physical item.

What I am saying is, down the line, the fully uncut version will be sold at a premium for absolutely no other reason than greed IMO.

Steedeel continues to astound. First it was that we will all be watching movies on smart watches in the future, then it was that they would remove movies, now it's they will not remove the movies, but replace with edited versions

Yeah, it's definitely the setup (a hard-wired connection that far exceeds VUDU's requirements for HDX). It couldn't have anything to do with the bad encodes they're using that cause interlacing and artifacting. Go watch one of the movies I mentioned and come back and tell me how outstanding they are. I'm not saying all their movies look bad, but I gave recent examples of movies that I watched that were.

I don't know why you brought up eBay, but thanks for letting me know that "nobody" buys DVD's there.

The only BD's I still buy are films that have not and might not make it to digital. Titles from Criterion, Warner Archives, Twilight Time, Olive, Shout Factory etc. Once they are available in HD digitally I sell the disc and get the digital version. But remember there are a ton of films digitally in HD that are nowhere near ever being released on physical media like Urban Cowboy etc..so both formats have their ups and downs.
