If they're going to do it, then they need to release it soon. My patience is starting to wane. I don't think a vague "2018" release window is going to cut it, either. At e3 they should say "Yes, and here's the release date" or "No, it isn't happening" and be done with it.

It needs to be this year, unless they are putting III back to 2018.

Apparently III is further along than the Kickstarter updates are letting on. The guys who met up with them for the holiday/dinner saw a lot of stuff, and sounds like it should make its December release.

A remaster really should come out before III, if all the rumours are to be believed then it's been in the works in some way or another since about 2012. But I guess we will have to wait and see if E3 brings us anything this year

I loved the Shenmue games on my Dreamcast, they are up there with my favourite games, every few years I'll get the system out of storage to re-play them. In the mid 2000s I had also picked up the Xbox version of Shenmue 2 (inc DVD of S1 story), but I tended to just play the Dreamcast version for the Japanese audio.
If a 1&2 remaster/port does appear I'd happily buy it on PS4 and/or PC.

One thing I'd be interested in though, playing them both in Japanese. Dialogue wise, I always preferred the 2nd game as some of the English voices in the first game were pretty ropey. So if the rumoured remaster does materialise, and its English dub only, that would be a disappointment.

Japanese dialogue with English subs is how I watch my anime and how I like to play those sorta games except maybe Final Fantasy etc. Where the voice acting is greater. Or maybe Dragonball Z series because I grew up on English and the dub was great.

I'd rather they spend the money on getting the game made to the best quality possible than waste it on a show stand because the game WILL sell enough just the way it garnered enough to get started.

In some pretty unsurprising news the game has been delayed to the second half of 2018. There will be more info released to kickstarter backers soon.

I'm not surprised, this is the one game I was looking forward to that I actually expected to not release this year at all. Best to make it as great as possible.

Also one things for sure,we have Yakuza kiwami in August to tide us over, and from what im hearing Yakuza 6 in early 2018. And before you ask yes,I consider these games alot like the shenmue series. At least thats the vibe I got from part 0. Only diffrence I saw gameplay wise is Yakuza has much more fighting.

Delay is absolutely fine by me. The reason seems valid too. They found a much better way to do animations and also managed to expand the scope of the game to include even more stuff. So let them take their time and make a great time.

In the mean time, Sega are Imo working in remasters of the first two games and will release them before Shenmue III.

Delay? Did this even have a release date? We've barely seen it so I assumed it wasnt coming out anytime soon. If it was even going to be on the same level as the originals, it definitely makes sense that it would take more than 2 years which would be a fairly quick turn around for a game made in 2017

Red dead less suprising, because its been in development alot less time since Shenmue 3,I mean comeon shenmue 3 was first announced WAY WAY BACK IN E3 2015!!

Two years is nothing actually. Red Dead has potentially been in development longer.

Hoping we dont reach next years E3 and the game is still not out. That would be a little extreme.

Winter 2019. If there was any chance it was going to be 2018, they would have been at e3. They don't even have enough to throw together a trailer.
