I'd like to get a Pioneer BD player, just cause I've never had one. What so great about them, besides there name?

They use top-of-the-line Wolfson quad DAC's (which are superior to any Denon, Sony, or Panasonic), has superior build quality, has unlimited options for tweaking the picture and sound.

Here's a professional review:

Of course, those only apply if you are using the player's analog outputs.

The Denon 3800BDCI likely has excellent DACs as well. It certainly has much better digital processing than any other player when it comes to tweaking the sound prior to the analog conversion.

I did end up getting the Panny 55K for my setup. It is amazing! I was ready to get the Pioneer but I saw the Oppo Blu Ray player was coming out. I didn't know it was coming out sooner than I heard awhile ago. I will definitely get that once it comes out.

I have the Pioneer BDP05-FD... While the video and audio performance is amazing, the player exhibits a lot of issues... It is the slowest responding player of the new generation units. The firmware is buggy (even the latest 1.17) but I must admit that the cuurent firmware fixed a lot of issues but issues still remain. All the reviews on the player glosses over these issues (after all, they need the advertisements) or downplay them. The current Panasonic and Sony players are much more reliable but their performace is a tad below the Pio.
