Both sets will be out for Christmas, not January/Feb. If they meant that, they would have said Quarter 1 '08.

They are capable of putting it out, but very few TVs are capable of working with them as of yet. They need a sync port for the shutter glasses that only Samsung has right now

$150 for 5 movies, thats what, $28 each?

And it includes extras you can't get otherwise. This is really nice.

I'm sure you will be able to get at LEAST 10% off that, so more like $130-140 price.

I hope these will include the Directors Cut versions, and insert the deleted scenes back into the movie, extending each one. Much like LOTR did.

These are on my top 10 list of movies/series. I of course also can't wait for Star Wars series, LOTR, Indiana Jones, and Godfather all on Blu-Ray... some day.

Um...try $30.

Still, with Amazon's great price, less the 10% discount, it would equate to about $19 per title. I would happily rebuy the first four movies for the HD version. Definitely something to look forward to.

Yes, based on previos sales, Harry Potter 3 came out in the summer too, just like 5, and it was released on DVD a week before Xmas. I expect the same here.

There are no directors cut versions. Columbus pretty much included everything. Cuaron believed that less was more and convinced those that followed him to slice and dice the books as well.

More is More when it comes to Harry Potter

No separate movie releases? Oh well...I'll buy as soon as I see a good deal (Harry Potter, that is).

Warner has already announced that they'll be releasing the HP movies individually, so fans aren't just limited to buying the box set. I would rather buy them individually on BD and get a box set once all 7 are out.

And there ARE directors cuts of the first four films. They are the versions seen on ABC Family whenever they broadcast the movies. It is essentially the theatrical release with the deleted scenes inserted back into it. Much better, IMHO.

(RANT: Cuaron's "Prisoner of Azkaban" was the WORST of the series simply because it took WAY too many liberties with the universe the first 2 films had established so brilliantly, and because it assumed everyone knew what was going on and omitted key plot points that 1-2 minutes of additional dialogue could have fixed. Cuaron has tried very hard to get a director spot on movies 6 or 7, but I don't think Warner is going for it--he is oil to JKR's water.)

I couldn't agree more. And WTF happened to Harry's Partronus? Would it really have been so hard to make it look like a stag? And why didn't the movie have the conversation in the Screaming Shack where the identities of Prongs, Wormtail, Padfoot, etc. are revealed?

The 3rd movie is, by far, the worst one of the 5 so far.

But whether they put them back in is the other question

Which i doubt. Honestly the first 2 are long enough already

Why am I the only one who brings up the continuity violation in the first frames of film?

Harry is doing magic under his covers, that's an automatic violation.

As far as liberties go, he didn't take any so far as I remember. Everything for the most part was in the book. If you're only watching the movies, then you need to read the books. They've been out for years.

What I hated was when Lupin confiscates the Maurader's Map from Harry, he refers to the now-blank parchment as "a map". To anyone who hasn't read the books, how did he know? All they had to do was add in the line from the book: "Yes, Harry, I KNOW it's a map." And I agree... explaining who the Marauders were in the Shrieking Shack was a big miss there.

I do not have the special edition of PoA. Can anyone with the special edition confirm if these issues are addressed in the deleted scenes?

really? i thought JKR stated that alfonzo actually forshadowed events to come in the final installment it actually brought chills to her because it was so dead on... apparently they are hidden within scenes that were shot, clues that alfonzo put in there unbeknownst to himself. i actually feel the 3rd movie was one of the better ones, as the first two were more like a childrens movie... the following three matured into movies that might actually scare little kids... something you didn't get a feel for from the first two chris columbus films. alfonzo cuaron was brilliant IMHO.

Yes, as in the whole "Snape jumps infront of the trio as werewolf Lupin transforms", which is NOT in the book, but has been pointed out by many as a clue that Snivelus is working for the good guys.

But just because Cuaron lucked out on some scenes doesn't justify his "re-imagining" of the sets and universe that Chris Columbus shaped. He changed the layout of Hogwarts and the grounds, and revamped some characters for the worst.

The first two films have a very "mystical" quality to them, which returned in movies 4 and 5. PoA is lacking that--the only way I can describe it is that, for me, watching that movie feels like sitting in wet sand, and not in a good way. I still think it's a good movie, but it is not a great Harry Potter experience, IMHO.

"Horcruxes" --- LOL! "The new Harry Potter box set will include all 7 films and all 7 horcruxes, and come packaged in a replica of the vanishing wardrobe used by the Death Eaters in Book 6." I can see it now...

RESPONSE TO RANT: Maybe so, but J.K. herself said that Azkaban had something put in the movie that gave her chills, because it foreshadowed something in the last book, something no one else could have known.

Warner does not region code their titles. So yes, it's playable on your European PS3

I already own the first 4 on DVD, I don't want to buy all 5 on Blu-ray. The DVD's are basically worthless or I would sell them and purchase the Blu-ray versions. I would buy "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" on Blu-ray if single disc versions are made available.

Chris
