I haven't watched anything in a while though, I've been getting my 3D thrills by playing Pain on my PS3.
yeah, I saw a 3d trailer for that film and I can remember the 3d has mild layers in that trailer, my guess the 3d has mild layers the entire film.

I haven't checked it out yet but I don't expect much from the 3D, other than it looking better than the 2D version of course.

I was going to watch it tonight but I've now cancelled my aggravatingly-delayed Amazon order for The Great Wall and bought it from a real shop instead (for the same price) so will probably watch that instead.

The Great Wall was so awesome, I can't wait to watch it again. Amazing 3D.

Default "Inferno"

I purchased and watched "Inferno", starring Robert Ryan. The remastering of the print was fantastic, the picture was so clear. The Mojave Desert looked amazing in 3D.

I believe that it is, there's a Region B logo on the back. I've added it to the list on https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=287864

Last night I watched The Great Wall on my 3D TV, having previously enjoyed it in 2D (on my phone)

It goes without saying that the film looks infinitely better in 3D than it does in 2D. As usual, I was somewhat disappointed at the lack of in-your-face pop-outs but you don’t tend to get these with conversions – typically, the main benefits to the 3D are depth, volume and separation. The action did spill out in front of the screen quite frequently though, so it wasn’t all depth (though that was good, especially when looking down from a height). Unsurprisingly it was the flying fireballs and monster action that looked the best, with the CGI beasties having appreciable volume and getting the best 3D slow motion shots. Best 3D shot for me? The shield thrown like a frisbee. On the downside there are some dark scenes where the 3D struggles to be noticeable but thankfully these are few and far between, it’s a very colourful film. Those colours will be very pretty in 4K but would I want to watch the film in pancake format ever again? No chance. This is a film that should be seen in 3D.

The film itself suffers a little by having Matt Damon’s battle-hardened mercenary character being such a nice guy from the outset, there’s no character development there. The other thing that threw me was that (mild spoiler) I was expecting the whole film to be set on the wall but after all the setup the action moves elsewhere and the wall serves no purpose. And more gore would have been very welcome.

Good write up. yes when they went straight into that massive battle about 16 minutes in I was thinking "How are they going to maintain this for the whole movie?" but then obviously as you say the story takes a turn and the location changes somewhat. The finale in the city was fantastic.

KUBO AND THE TWO STRINGS (3D)4/5
PQ: 5/5
3D: 3.25/5
AQ: 4/5

Been dying to see this movie for some time now, but for some reason Canadians were screwed out of a 3D release. Way too expensive to import stateside (import fee, shipping cost, $30 and the exchange rate on top of that) So I imported from the Amazon UK site once again and saved a bundle. Anyways the movie I thought was well deserving of its Best Animated Picture nod for last year. I find Laiki studio hit or miss movie wise but they all have a more adult feel to them from tone and kids being more grownup compare to the actual grownups. I'm a fan of the stop motion and this stuff is top notch stuff and wonder if this s why they also got a SFX nod last year as well. The picture quality was amazing, but the 3D overall lacked the punch i was expecting from the movie. It has its moments from his paper origami magic creatures coming to life abd a brief moment in the end with a sword pertruding just a bit towards the audience. The audio serviced the movie well, but i think i have heard better and more emmersive tracks on other animated films. Still i cant recommend this movie enough for everyone to check out, but it's not be the kids movie that some are expecting

Watched The Penguins Of Madagascar 3D. I hadn't watched this in 3D since seeing it in the theaters. There was a little bit of ghosting throughout the movie but I suspect only because it was such strong 3D. Was very impressed at how they changed up the aspect ratio a few times during the film to create some nice frame breaks. Kids will get a laugh at this movie but you can really tell the dialogue was written to keep older audiences entertained. So many funny puns throughout the movie. This is one of those films you can watch many times and never get bored with it.

Well I watched "Escape From Planet Earth 3D". Very good 3D, depth was outstanding thruout and a few pop outs. I rated the movie a 8. I also watched "The Martian" and it was better than "Avatar". "The Martian" had outstanding depth and no ghosting with a few pop out effects like the storm scenes. I rated the movie a 9.

just want to thank everyone that takes the time to include a personal review or description of the movie they just watched. those are great, and are why i read this thread.

but the posts where people are simply stating that they just bought or received a movie? those aren't useful at all. does anyone see the value in those?
