Picked this up at an unbelievably great price on ebay new and with the lenticular cover ! (yeah I was surprised , been checking the prices several times a day. I snapped it up fast)

Also found these two in "Like New" condition from an adult only home on half.com. Came with the lenticular covers too.

I know! I was surprised to find both Toy Story 3D's (not the region free versions) in such great condition with the "lenti" covers for the price people are asking for one

As for Beauty and the Beast, the price was about what folks are charging for he lenticular cover alone.

I searched for awhile and I got lucky but my patience paid off.

Just watched Ballerina

As expected, the 3D was of the mild Disney variety, so no in-your-face pop outs though there was some spillage out of the screen here and there when I looked for it. Initially I wasn't that impressed but as it went on I did appreciate the volume and separation, with noticeable layering and some very welcome if tonally inappropriate Assassin's Creed-y rooftop action. Naturally I wouldn't have bothered with this in 2D and I agree with reviews bemoaning all the pop music on the soundtrack, but in 3D it's quite nice, if nothing special.

You're asking the wrong person--to me, if it was released theatrically in 3D, 3D is the only way to go when purchasing. As to whether the movie is worth a purchase in general, then yes, I thought it was a lot of fun, and looks like there is quite a bit of bonus material.

XXX Return of Xander Cage.

Fun, escapist action film with great 3D, especially with climatic ending. Again, 3D adds so much to the viewing pleasure, do not believe would have enjoyed it nearly as much watching it flat - knowing the 3D was out there.

The Legend of Tarzan 3/5
PQ: 4.5/5
3D: 3.25/5
AQ: 4.75/5

Not a bad movie really, just a bit slow pace wise. The audio was pretty good with nice use of the ceiling height speakers for the included Atmos track (you remember when you could include the Atmos track on a 3D discs Warner Bros?) The 3D was ok but nothing stellar, some ok depth and a few small pop outs or poking of some spears/guns towards the audience. So I guess it added a bit to the film, but overall they could of done a bit more. Soft rental recommendation

I pre-ordered this but had to cancel due to budget reasons. Sounds like I needn't rush out to buy it.

Did the pre-order come with a slipcover, at least, and did you pre-order this from Amazon DE?

Thanks for the review!

Disney Cars 3D

I just watched Cars 3D Bluray and I was amazed at the richness and depth. With the majority of scenes taking place outside and around Radiator Springs, there's always a strong sense of depth. There's some great pop out with microphones and cameras during the press conferences scenes.
The movie is vivid and colourful and still holds up for me.

Warner Bros Lego Batman Movie

I watched The Lego Batman Movie today on 3D Bluray and it really held up. It's really fun especially if your a comics fan. The 3D is decent and there's some small pop up, but depth is capable but not spectacular.

Is this related to Lego Movie in its plot?

Yeah, I got Ballerina from Amazon.de but it didn't come with a slipcover (and the sleeve isn't reversible either).

I gather that there is a Spanish release too, but I'm informed that that one has forced subtitles so is to be avoided...

This film can be watched independently of The Lego Movie and enjoyed. The only real link is the main character, Batman. As I recall there is no references made to the earlier film aside from the term 'Master Builder'.

It is a good 3D film, but not one you would use to show off 3D capabilities to a guest. I don't regret buying it, put it that way.

Just rewatched Dark Country - this time without forced subtitles, hooray!

There are some excellent 3D shots in this one, including one of my favourite "hand reaching out of the screen" shots and lots of low angles to show off the 3D. Close ups have impressive volume and there's plenty of out-of-screen spillage. Even though there's a lot of greenscreening (car interior shots), it helps give proceedings an air of dreamlike unreality.

The French dub credits were at the end despite there being no French audio, but there were optional English subtitles which makes the Turkish disc a keeper and the French one a dumper, though I did enjoy the commentary on the latter.

Yes, I don't have it to hand right now but if I recall correctly the English audio was DTS HD-MA.

No forced subs, unlike the Spanish version.
