You must have been drunk or high... or something. I was blown away by Wendy and Lucy and have been happy with every Reichardt movie I've seen since.

Haneke's a talented filmmaker, but I just don't feel the need to own any of his films for whatever reason. I've seen "Cache", "Funny Games", "Amour", and "The Piano Teacher", but I just didn't love any of them. They're well-made, intelligent films, but I just have never been a massive Haneke fan. I think we all have filmmakers like that.

I've only seen "Meek's Cutoff", which I enjoyed.

Again, that's cool and all, but I personally don't see why they would bother. It'll be the same master used in the current set, and Criterion hates using other people's extras... so it won't include The Missing Pieces, which is THE biggest special feature it could have. If they do license the Missing Pieces, then it'll be so close to the current disc that anyone who already owns the set won't need it. It would be fine, I guess, for people who don't, but watching FWWN without the show doesn't make much sense, either.

If anything, it might be like Benjamin Button where they just release the exact same disc that's already out, but stand-alone.

Sixteen Candles instead of that glorified David Lynch supplement would've made this a perfect month.

They now control the US rights and have to make their money off it and that means a Blu-ray will be released.

The Piano Teacher is a nice surprise. I really do hope that the two Funny Games and Cache get added to the collection at some point.

David Lynch: The Art Life is a good, meditative documentary if you like Lynch, but I wasn't as blown away by it as I expected to be; there's good insights, but it's a shame to see a disk that isn't stacked, I'm sure there's some Lynch-related supplements that could have been included. It's a film I'd suggest is maybe better watching on Filmstruck than owning.

Certain Women I am so hyped for, I've ashamed at myself for not watching the Reichardt films when they were playing on MUBI. Glad to see it won't just be a DVD exclusive release as it first seemed to be; hadn't even considered it getting a Criterion edition until the possibility was mentioned on Criterion Now; wouldn't be surprised if her other films receive Criterion releases. Feeling pretty confident it will get a UK release, but who knows. Hopefully other recent stuff like Personal Shopper (also starring Stewart) and The Other Side of Hope will get Criterion releases, as they blew me away.

Good to see Rebecca back in the collection, but I might just get the MGM disk as it's region free, unless these new supplements turn out to be unmissable.

Festival I'm interested in, if only because Dont Look Back is soooo soooo good and I love these kinds of documentaries which act as time capsules. Never seen a Haneke film (I know, I should be disappointed with myself, The White Ribbon is high on my watchlist), but great to see more of his films on Blu-ray in the collection.

Not the most exciting of months, but still happy with the selection of films, although Othello might still be the most anticipated release of the month for me.

I'm mixed on Certain Women. Laura Dern is great in it, but her segment is only mildly interesting. The 2nd story with Michelle Williams is so damn tedious. But the last segment with Kristen Stewart and Lily Gladstone is one of the most poignant things I saw last year, the latter giving a performance that should've gotten her an Oscar nomination.

Me too, Scottie. It didn't really feel like the David Lynch I've come to know from interviews and other people's stories. That art was definitely something to look at though, but I'd rather have seen this documentary become an extra on a disc with one of his movies.

I enjoyed hearing Lynch talk about his childhood, but I felt like that was the focus of the entire film - stories from the high school/college days in terms of how he got into the art scene cut with Lynch smoking cigarettes and working on sculptures/paintings.

There was very little talk about his early film career until the last 20 minutes or so.

And Benny's Video, which is a brilliantly dark tale, but not quite as brutal as Funny Games. Both have been OOP for a while so I assume Criterion is currently holding the rights. It also looks like Warner has let the Funny Games remake go OOP which is a pretty good sign that Criterion probably licensed that one from them as well.
