Default Eerie aesthetic similarities between Wonder Woman and black panther

Both major milestones for a neglected demographic

(First female superhero vs first*ahem* non white male superhero)
Both films coming roughly year and a half after the characters debut in huge muti-hero event films
Each of those films centered around a clash if the two main heroes of their respective universe
Both are from powerful lands hidden from the r st of the world
Both star not fresh but still relatively new actors coming into their own (gadot from furious boseman from 42 and get on up)
Each is the final film un their universe before an event even bigger than the one the characters debuted in

I think you're just picking up on the fact that superhero movies are all just super generic.

Those aren't aesthetic similarities anyway, those are plot similarities.

Despite the fact that the above poster is correct about generic traits surrounding superhero films, I'm just grateful that the world (Hollywood execs moreso than the general public) finally seems to be opening their respective minds regarding different demographics of humanity and their abilities to provide quality entertainment.

Also, I agree that your points aren't "aesthetic" at all. The term "aesthetic" is strictly referring to the visual presentation of a film. I highly doubt that the costumes and settings of both films will look anything alike.

I can say that it was a joy to see on youtube females reacting to the Wonder Woman trailer and blacks reacting to the Black Panther trailer - besides both trailers being emotional to comic book geeks, it was also emotional for them to see those trailers.

That movie wasn't released theatrically and before anyone brings this up I consider blade to be a vampire action franchise only not a superhero franchise

We've had Black Men as superheroes before, we've had women as superheroes before. Were most of the films bad? Sure, but they aren't technically firsts. They are only firsts for the DC/MC universes, but not as whole.

Supergirl was released theatrically on thanksgiving weekend 1984 and while it did flop overall it opened #1 for the weekend. There are also Elektra and Catwoman in the female led superhero film category. Wonder Woman is just a great film and treats the character with respect unlike the other films.

Blade is a MARVEL superhero, no way to get around that. He is an African American superhero, plus don't forget that Shaq had Steel.

Plus if your just going for non-white heroes there are a lot of Japanese superhero movies that were made into successful movies.

While both of the plots do seem the same, they are comic book movies and a lot of them share similar plots/ideas with each other.

If you're referring to Supergirl, yes it was and I know that for a fact because I saw it on the big screen when it was released in 1984.

This thread cannot be taken seriously when the person who started it is clueless about film history.

Blade is the movie that started it all. And X-Men gave it the boost after. Just saying.
