Didn't Artisan release it on DVD? Because Lionsgate now owns the Artisan library if that's the case. When did Paramount come in?

BarnDoor, you forgot Rasen, which was the first sequel to Ringu until it was decided that a different sequel should be made.

I would totally be up for a Scream Factory Ringu box set.

Nightbreed is one of the few films where I watched both cuts of the film back to back within 24 hours after purchasing the Limited Edition a few years ago. The film was so different for me that I'd honestly struggle to tell you the differences between either cut, but I remember being thoroughly entertained during both viewings and felt that each cut offered it's own positive experience.

Since none of that is really all that helpful, and since I'm assuming you don't own the Limited edition set (since it's been oop for quite a while now) then I'd recommend watching the directors cut since it's in HD at least. If you do happen to have the Limited edition set that included the Theatrical cut disc, then I'd say start with that since it's how the film is best known, and then jump over to the directors cut later.

Definitely the DC. The theatrical version is far too rushed and it eliminates too much of the relationship between Boone & Lori.

The DC for sure. The regular is a mess and leaves a lot to be desired. The DC is also my wifes favorite as she didn't like the TC much, she was confused and lost. The DC was more interesting for her and she never even heard of nightbreed.

Yes, Artisan released it as part of a distribution arrangement they had with Republic Pictures. That ended several years ago and the Artisan / Lionsgate releases have gone OOP. A fairly large chunk of that catalog has been rereleased by Paramount, itself, or licensed to Olive or Kino.

Viacom, Paramount's parent company, has owned the Republic Pictures catalog partially since it's 1994 acquisition/merger with Blockbuster Entertainment and fully since the late 1990's when it bought out the remaining portion of Spelling Entertainment it did not already own.

I too watched both the theatrical and director's cut of Nightbreed back to back after purchasing it when it came out. The two are drastically different and really feel like two separate movies. I'd recommend checking them both out.

The only other movie that I think of in terms of being drastically different from theatrical to in this case the Producer's cut is Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers.

I don't want to get my hopes up for a Shout-Paramount deal but if it comes to fruition, it'll be just as epic as when Shout first announced the MGM deal. So many great potential titles. And I'm not only thinking genre stuff, I'm thinking of movies like Breakdown, Nick of Time and We're No Angels '89

What is it with these goddamn sites and their double biling??

First, they tell me via email yesterday that they wouldn't be shipping my 2nd order for two weeks, but then they ship today and then they ****ing double bill me. The same problen I had with DeepDiscount. People can say what they want about Amazon and other such places, but they don't seem to make these mistakes.F____k. Ugh.

What evidence is there, exactly, that there is some sort of Scream Factory deal with Paramount?

Thanks to those that were pushing "Evilspeak" during the sale. It was VERY entertaining, like some kind of Carrie variant with a ridiculous ominous computer, an army of pigs, and a protagonist that's kind of an aggravating worm. The ludicrous gore effects really added to it as well. I can't say I've seen anything else like it!

I'd say at this point, Vestron will be your best bet for that one.

I would actually be somewhat surprised if Fright Night Part II isn't part of Scream Factory's October lineup this year. Shout! Factory recently announced Dudes for the Shout Select line and I'm pretty sure that comes from the same library of titles as Fright Night Part II.

You could well be right. There was also this rather cryptic tweet from a while back, which, if hinting that they have one of the titles mentioned, can probably be narrowed down to Cemetery Man or indeed Fright Night Part II:
