After I succesfully predicted the SNES mini being made, ill take a shot at this next one. The possibility of a N64 mini is minimum. First of all,the SNES mini went up in price because of extra controller, and more memory for each game. If they were to release a N64 mini it would cost more. I couldnt see them selling it under $ 130, due to the complicated mechanics of that console, and alot more memory for each game, compared to SNES mini.

An N64 classic console would sell even at $130.

The main reason why we won't see a N64 Classic anytime soon is hardware limitations. The hardware they used in the NES classic (and will probably be used in SNES classic) would have to be better to get many N64 games running well.
Raspberry Pi 3 and other similar mini computers can't run many N64 games well. The best of the bunch is the Nvidia Shield (which I have). It runs many games well, but still not 100%. And that costs $200. |

Wow...I didn't know we had 'click bait' articles here. I thought you had actual news from Nintendo saying this was the last; not your opinion. Not saying it's not the last console, but no facts to prove either way.

Well, I will counter your prediction with one of my own.
What if the next Mini Classic is going to be the GB/GBC or GBA? Imagine the library they could get on that! What if they include an official release of Mother 3 in English much like they have included the previously unreleased StarFox 2 with the SNES mini. I would imagine if they are to continue with these classic lines then they would go to the GB line before thinking about an N64. They can drop the "mini" from these lines and stick to recreating the original hardware shape and size since they are already pretty small. I would like to see a GameBoy/Colour Classic next year, they can release the classic GameBoy design with 20-30 built in games. Followed by a GBA release. They could stretch these out to 2020, maybe by then they will find a way to do an N64 mini the right way. Or... You know, they could launch Virtual Console on the Switch! Maybe they can release console specific controllers to add on to the Switch. They can rinse us for hundreds of $$$ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

"Classics" is now a line, so I definitely see it continuing.
I think it will just be a premium item. The bigger concern would be Nintendo producing that crappy controller en masse again with it's degrading control stick. But a lot depends on what games are on it. OOT is obvious, and would make a lot of people want it. |

![]() I've never played the original arcade game but MK 4 on the N64 was great. It's the last MK game for which I could memorize all special moves + fatalities and actually perform them without looking them up first. ![]() |

Especially because Non-Iwata-Nintendo likes to release their systems now with non-replaceable batteries. So Gameboy Mini (what would even be the point of that - miniaturized it wouldn't make sense, because the buttons would be way too small). And with a fixed battery that will run out of juice fast and then you can literally throw it away (plus for Non-Iwata-Nintendo, huge negative for customers). My bet is on a N64 Mini. It will happen. I'm sure of it. Nintendo managed to get a proper N64 emulator working on the Wii. When you got the full specs, you can do a way better job and with that they did already. Quote:
They won't offer upgrade prices once more like on Wii U. They learned a lesson from Sony. Also see: online allowance fee. The very sad thing about this is: Iwata was smart. He knew that long term it makes sense to NOT nickel and dime your customers. Because they may not be your customers forever. New-Nintendo doesn't seem to grasp that concept. Also see Metroid Samus Returns Amiibo unlocks. Iwata's point was to never put some larger/major content behind them, like a difficulty option. Just skins and such. The only Amiibo that violated that rule (as far as I remember) was Shovel Knight Amiibo, which I think is/was also a scam. But that wasn't a Nintendo decision. And well, let's go completely crazy. N64 Mini. With a finished and polished up Super Mario 64 2. They would sell gangbusters. Last edited by jimidini; 08-03-2017 at 10:17 PM. |

I think it was just one of those situations where most people saw it coming from a mile away, we were all just waiting for an official announcement. |
