Awesome! Let us know what the 3D is like when you get a chance. I've always been curious about this title.

same here. 4k/HDR adds almost zero value to a movie, for me. the only reason i'm glad i have a 4k TV is because it essentially doubles the resolution of 3D movies WHICH LOOK FRICKIN' AWESOME.

Last night I watched:

One of the first 3D titles I got, and I finally took a chance to see it in full. In 2011, this was probably an awesome sight to behold. Today? It's been bested (took a brief glance at the 3D on Age of Extinction, for comparison, and the leap in 3D quality is immense). DOTM has some good-looking scenes, mostly with the wide-open cityscapes where you can get a good amount of depth. Some (but not all) of the CG animations will have dimensionality and depth that will dazzle. But it could be better--some of the effects where robot arms and heads fly at the camera should be perfect for pop-out effects, but remain flatter than I'd expect. Most scenes in between the action have that pop-up-book effect, where actors and backgrounds are separated, but it's not as good as it could be. Overall, it has its moments and the 3D is mostly worth it for the big finale, but I see room for improvement.

I always enjoyed this movie, and it might even be my favorite of the lot. Action is spectacular, but I appreciate the levity and story directions as well.

If there is a 3d version, then I will always watch the 3d version, period. If film makers wasn't trying to short change our experience then there would be a 4k 3d standard in place, as well as the continuous 3d ready TV's. Imagine 4k, or even 2k 3d?... Back to fun stuff, If Valerian get's a proper 3d conversion it may very well be the ultimate 3d demo disk!!!!!!

Universal Studios Les Dents de la Mer 3!

I know all too well the quality of the film itself, but it's still a Jaws picture AND they released it as a 3-D disc. For $10, how can I not?

Watched this in the evening:

Holy cow. This 3D is perfect. So much depth. Everything has solid-looking shape and volume. It's really spectacular with the expanded IMAX AOR. It's just so beautiful.

The movie itself--has weaknesses, but it didn't seem nearly as bad this time around as when I saw it in cinemas. I think I'm growing to like it, actually.

Suggest not to compare it to ID1 or go by the reviews but to look at the movie on its own merits. My wife and I really enjoyed this edition. It was pure escapism and had a very good follow up story line. And the 3D was a sight to behold. What more can one ask for if not in the mood for Macbeth or Citizen Kane?

Sent the digital copy to my brother who loved it in just 2D.

Think you'll have fun with it. We had low expectations and took our glasses off being glad we bought it.

Hi all,

Sorry haven't given my thoughts on recently viewed films but haven't watched any the past two weeks. Hurt my back and my legs are in such pain am using a walker. Can't go to the doctor just yet or use pain killers or muscle relaxants because I'm having another prostate biopsy next week (not to worry, I've had five in the past and they've all been negative). Doctor felt additional ones in his office would be a waste so I had a MRI for a total scan which could precisely zero in on any specific areas that might be a problem. Found some dark areas but they could be anything, hence another biopsy. Before the MRI, specialist said looking over past biopsies and all blood tests she wasn't worried about finding anything serious. At most, there could be something in the non aggressive stage which is very treatable. So was told not to loose sleep.

But that's why I've done nothing more but lay on a heating and vibrating board and just enduring pain while using a walker to get around instead of seeing a doctor. First things first. Because the pain has only subsided so much it has made me too anxious to sit and watch a movie.

But even with this, I have not been entirely absent from 3D. The MRI took a 3D image of my prostate. Though never to be released on blu ray, how many of you have been in an actual 3D picture? LOL.

Hoping to be putting on those glasses real soon. Part of me is afraid too. You know, with 3D, something can suddenly jump at ya and with my back, an unexpected jolt is one thing I really don't need.

Journey To Space is a complete waste of time. A big chunk of the film is unnecessary windowboxed. The narrative (and I'm using that term generously) suffers from a severe case of ADHD, jumping all over the place and failing to focus on any single subject for more than a few minutes. Oh, and there's also almost no actual space footage.

Finished watching Always: Sunset on Third Street '64 in 3D about a hour and half ago, I thought the 3D is beautiful IMO, a bit restrained at times, purely just depth, there two pop outs in the movie, I liked the pop out flyover of Tokyo Tower, the other one with the frame break effect where a certain character coming out of the black bars braking the frame about a 1 hr and 20 mins into the film.

Wished there was more pop outs, but I enjoyed watching it in 3D, would watch it again because this was shot in 3d, shame the 3d disc didn't have English subtitles.

This arrived the other day from Amazon.com and I got around to watching it tonight. Hmmmmm......yes I think the 3D was fantastic looking, but.....the acting.....or should I say overacting??? I have seen only a handful of movies made before the seventies so I don't have a lot of experience with older black & white films but the story and acting were just, I don't even know how to put it. Like I feel like they dumb'd things way down and threw in some over the top acting. It's like they don't want you to have to think. Just sit back and watch and scarf down some popcorn. Campy sci-fi? Is that the term I'm looking for? I guess the same could be true with modern movies that are all visual eye candy like Michael Bay movies.
I did enjoy it though but if it hadn't been for the 3D I don't think I'd have ever watched this. I woulda strangled that lady if she needlessly screamed at one more thing that wasn't there lol.

While Flight of the Butterflies is a somewhat interesting documentary of migration patterns, I thought the 3d was spectacular! I haven't seen the others.

Watched:

Holly molly the effects, and the use of strong 3d throughout much of the film. That and it didn't take the generic Tolkien fantasy world nearly every fantasy film uses. Genuinely spectacular to watch. However whilst I wouldn't say the story is bad, there is way to much story for a film that isn't even 2 hours long and scenes jump from one another very quickly. It feels like it needed to be a 3 hour epic. No idea if it got cut down to fit more showing in a day, or if the director (who also wrote the film) was genuinely just trying to trim all the fat (both when scripting and editing it) and maybe went a little to far.

Still a very enjoyable experience that makes me wish I saw it on the big screen. I played the rts in the mid 90's but haven't really touched anything warcraft since, not sure why this reviewed as poorly as it did.

Did you notice a little blur on the left side in some scenes, like in the opening scene? It feeks like my left visual gets foggy at times. I know it's the movie because it happens whether with my Oled passive display and my Sony active display.

I concur that Journey to Space is a huge disappointment. I'm a space nut and have spent much of my life promoting a large-scale human future in space and, in addition to the above mentioned issues, this is a totally uninspired, uninspiring and very short-sighted view of the future. If the road to Mars depicted here ever succeeds (which is highly dubious), the ones who get there via this route can say hello to the 200 people already there thanks to Elon Musk. This is basically a company promo piece, and not an effective one even in that regard.
