I have a few opinions, but I just want to precede them saying that I have very little experience doing this.


As others have stated putting a DLP on top of the fireplace may be a bit awkward. I agreed with that from the beginning but didn't really say anything as you seemed to really be pushing for that idea. Now on to the ideas!


What would happen if you rotated your whole setup 90 degrees to the wall opposite the two windows that are to the left of the couch in one of your pictures.

You could place the tv on the floor and some floor standing front speakers next to it. You would need some sort of storage or rack for all your entertainment system pieces (blu-ray player, receiver, etc). This would open up the spot above the fireplace for some sort of cool art work (painting or maybe a movie poster of some sort if you are going for strictly just a home theater room).
