Default Andy Samberg

What are your thoughts on him? I think he deserves his own show. After watching the last short he made "Ji**ed in my pants" I realized he's on a level of comedy that connects to a lot of people. I loved Hot Rod. I love all of his shorts on SNL. I know some people don't get him but he is a breath of fresh air compared to most other comedians out there now.

His bit "Mark Wahlberg talks to animals" was amazing. He sounded exactly like him.

I kind of wanted him and Mark to take it all the way and show him getting a beating from Mark.

He had his own show...sort of. It was called "AwesomeTown" and was pitched around to several networks (including MTV and Fox) but never really made it. The three people on the show are all on SNL now. Samberg became a cast member, and the other two became writers (though one of them was the 2nd guy in the skit you referred to above).

Here's the opening to their show:

I think multiple versions of the pilot episode are also on YouTube (they had different edits, based on the network they were pitching it to).

And who can forget this classic from a few years ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nt2OVAgkHBc (Samberg makes his brief appearance at 0:55)

I don't get him. The only thing good about Hot Rod was Isla Fischer IMO.

I never saw Hot Rod, but I love laser cats, the Narnia rap, and off course..."junk in a box" with Timberlake.

Don't know much about him. Didn't see Hot Rod but I did see that pants video. LMAO! Thought it was another Justin Timberlake song that he does on there

I think he's absolutely hilarious. I look forward to the digital short each week and I don't think I've ever been disappointed. In addition to the songs, laser cats if fantastic. I understand how people might not like or understand the humor though. It is incredibly dumb. Hot Rod is one of my favorite movies, and I wish he'd get some bigger roles.
Little bit of a side note, I have all the pay movie channels, and Hot Rod hasn't been on any of them yet. The movie is about 16 months old, and it usually takes 10-12 months from theatrical debut to make the pay channels. I know it wasn't a hit but if anything I would expect it to make tv quicker because of this.

Cool

I read somewhere Will Farrell turned down the role for Hot Rod because he was working on Semi-Pro. Good thing because I think Samberg is hilarious and Hot Rod was stupidly funny

Oh, and since I never answered it in my other post:

I think he's funny, but not funny enough (or in a way) to have his own show.

Blizzard Man is hands down his best character. I'd been waiting for a new skit, and I think the one last week (or two weeks ago...whenever Tim McGraw hosted) was the first Blizzard Man skit in nearly 2 years.
