It's too good, and too recognizable, so it's almost a lock not to happen.

There was so much talk of rebooting Fletch over the years, damn shame nothing ever came of it.
I read all the books an enjoyed them but they're a different animal from the films. These are primarily Chevy Chase comedy vehicles and what I like about compared to most of his work such as the Vacation films where he plays a bumbling fool, he's actually smart and dryly sardonic as Fletch. Except when he's in disguise at which point he acts like an idiot to disarm those around him, almost sinking to the level of the fools around him.

They didn't use that for the DVD cover. Seeing as how the first film used the same cover for the bluray as the DVD, I wouldn't expect much. The Australian release used the original poster art though.

Not in the US, but in other part of the world, for DVD release. But it was used when the film was released theatrically, which was my point.

Yeah I misread your post, I thought you were saying it was too recognizable not to use.

Basically I like it, so that seems like reason enough for Universal not to use it.
Either way I'm happy just to finally get a US BD. Hope to see more of this from Universal.
