I think you robbed us of a good half hour of telling you what to buy. People making decisions on their own....what is the world coming to?

I suggest before you just go buy it, that you go listen to the receiver and speakers. Listen to several of both, that way you have an idea of what you really want to have in your home. If you like something better then buy that or save up to put together your custom HT system. Personally I don't like those little speakers, perhaps you might find some you like better.

Still, I can get you the best for your budget, now! As a fellow college student, I insist you get top tier sound! It changes movies so much more.

Dont suppose you want a great Fluance 5.0 set that you can take with you when you move out, eh? Eh?

$199, and Big Daddy highly recommends them, and if he does, I will too!

Get the 606 at Accessories 4 Less, get the Monitor 50's (as they don't have the Monitor 60's), the CS1, and if you have money left- the Monitor 30's for surrounds. Save for an A2-300.

You know, I've heard about some reviews that were very critical of those speakers that were saying all the glowing reviews weren't accurate and the SQ wasn't that great. Nobody here that I can think of has these speakers; if they do, then they have yet to say anything...

the only critique I have ever seen online was from a member on the "Home Theater Secrets" website...what his motivation and credibility is, who knows??

So one critique means nothing.

I say too good to be true unless I'm proved otherwise. Call me stubborn or whatever, but I'd like to have some idea of how they sound other than "Cnet likes it" or "it sounds good." Details please!

Can you give us a thorough review of them (as you can). All you need to do is be descriptive and nitpick whatever you don't like. Nobody's coming after you if you like or don't like the speakers. Plus, they aren't yours.

Sure. Won't be until Xmas though of-coarse. My review would be from a "general" ear prospective, as I'm not much of an Audiophile.

That's fine. I'm not an "audiophile" here either. (At least that's what I tell myself). Just be descriptive and vivid. Anyone can do that.
