P.S. Even though Shout is the parent company, why hasn't the "Scream Factory" studio been used for database entries?
The site wanted to use the distributor rather than the sublabel or releasing studio. This was heavily debated, but this is what we ended up with. If we could get a releasing label/studio field added and rename the existing studio field to distributor this would be the best of both worlds in terms of searching and cross referencing.

I'm excited to see the cover art for SNDN and Misery CEs.

Along with American Gothic and the probable release of Hell Night, I'm content with these titles.

One day though, a definitive Child's Play 2/3 will come and make my day..

What are the criteria for something to be a 'collector's edition'? Does that mean any guaranteed specifications or features, or is it just a bunch a words slapped on a slipcover?

With those being the titles they chose to announce at comic con, you have to figure that the line is on its last legs. Its a shame but it was fun while it lasted.

And how the hell isnt American Gothic a Collectors Edition, but the unnecessary crap like Misery and Drag me to Hell is? Makes no sense.
I'll probably pick up Misery strictly out of nostalgia (saw it in theaters with my "cool aunt" as a child), but I couldn't agree more about Drag Me To Hell. It's a shit movie made for modern audiences, who likely would've realised it's mediocrity had they not had their faces buried in their phones for most of its runtime. However, if ilk like it pave the way for more Ossorio releases or hidden gems ala The Resurrected, bring it on. Just don't expect the lot of us to be excited about it.

Next year, let's all calm down with the Paramount assumptions. This is what comes of it.

SNDN receiving the collector's edition treatment is TOTALLY justified. Easily my most anticipated title of the Comic-Con announcements.

You guys be tripping hardcore.

Well, can't always please everyone all the time like they say.

The Scream lineup is a bummer but some of the Shout lineups more than made up for it for me.

If you ask me, SNDN is a hell of a follow-up to Scream Factory's Black Christmas collector's edition from last year.

"Santa's watching, Santa's creeping. . . "

We also need a "Always Christmas on the Warm Side of the Door" full track.

Here you go.

I swear the vocals are a hilarious precursor to those of Chad Kroger's.

It did have a DVD release, but it was full frame:

Will be able to retire that one. Excited for the upgrade!

I like Misery. But I have the MGM release with nice slip. There's nothing wrong with it. And same for Drag me to Hell. Nothing wrong with it. All these re-releases, especially of newer films like DMTH and Strangers (which I love) are pointless. And there isn't going to be any Paramount deal. This is it.

I said a while back, if the Vestron line from Lionsgate proved to be successful we might start seeing some of these studios start doing the same and releasing their back catalog and maybe start their own lines. Sony just recently announced 976-Evil which looks to have special features, new transfer, a nice slipcover and looks to be a solid release. They could start putting out their own titles if this sells well. And I suspect Warner and Paramount...etc will soon follow. Leaving the Scream Factory line with the scraps left overs. A.K.A more re-releases.

Oh, I'm beyond happy about that one. I never bothered with the AB release, and mostly because of its MSRP. $8.99 for a beloved 80's gem kinda screamed "shit release". I'll be grabbing it as soon as it's available.

I think the complaints stem from separate releases of the Darkman sequels and the fact that the best "horror" film out of the announcements is an early-nineties Dante flick being released under the Select! banner.

It seems to me that Scream had so many awesome titles about 2-3 years ago, and since then, nothing huge, especially the past 6 months to a year. And with most of these Comic Con announcements, it just seems to me that Scream doesn't have a lot left.

Hope not.

Great news on MISERY! I knew they'd release a CE sooner or later.
SNDN is a huge surprise but I hope they do it right and release the theatrical cut, There's no way in hell im sitting through another copy of the Unrated cut with those awful VHS inserts. Would be a miracle if they're planning an all HD unrated version. THE STRANGERS is a nice welcome as well. The current BD artwork is atrocious.

These are in collections at this moment. All are re-releases and all of these were released within the last year or so. I think they'll be fine.
Until it gets to the point where people just stop caring and or realize they're wasting money on over priced repacks of what they already have just for an extra or two that they'll only probably watch once or twice. This current formula will not work for them in the long run.

Can someone tell me what the Scream/Shout announcements at Comic Con were for? What titles?
