Ouch. For one title, media mail is $4.08 versus $4.26 for first class mail.

Wow. Nice that TT will have same day shipping for in stock items. That will turn me back towards them vs SAE for orders moving forward.
On a side note: I'm surprised there are still copies of The 3 Worlds of Gulliver. Is this the longest a 3,000 edition TT Harryhausen has been available? I don't believe it has ever been on sale.

Just pulled the trigger on a few items on sale!

TITUS (1999) (SPECIAL PROMOTION) $9.95
THE RUSSIA HOUSE (1990) (SPECIAL PROMOTION) $9.95
THE KILLER ELITE (1975) / NOON WINE (1966) (SPECIAL PROMOTION)

Been holding off on Titus for way too long at this point and figured it was finally time to jump on it. I've wanted The Russia House since the day it was released but simply couldn't justify the original purchase price. This is the first time it's been on sale where I've had the funds to go for it. And I actually didn't realize that Twilight Time had released The Killer Elite! Love me some James Caan!

I just finished watching Tom Sawyer from my Twilight Time Blu-ray of Tom Sawyer/Huckleberry Finn.

I had not seen this 1973 musical adaptation of Tom Sawyer since childhood, but I remembered most of it by heart. This film takes some liberties with the Mark Twain novel, but it nonetheless captures the spirit of the literary source in a fun and riveting way. Johnny Whitaker (Family Affair television series) stars in the title role, Jeff East, who played the young Clark Kent in Superman: The Movie, stars as Huckleberry Finn, and the always-awesome Warren Oates (Stripes, The Wild Bunch) starred as Muff Potter. Becky Thatcher is played by none other than Jodie Foster (The Silence of the Lambs, Taxi Driver) in one of her earliest roles.

When I was a kid, I always wanted to be like Muff Potter, the homeless drunk who wanders happily and aimlessly around the Mississippi town from one hidden stash of whiskey to another. I guess that there's still time for me to accomplish this goal, as long as I stay focused and believe in myself.

Tom Sawyer has one of the coolest stunts that I've ever seen in a film. It's the scene where Injun Joe jumps out the window of the court room after Tom Sawyer points him out as a murderer, lands on the ground two stories below the window, and keeps running. A body double was used for the stunt, and it's apparent, when watching in high definition, that a soft area was used for the landing, but it's still awesome to see.

I read Twain's The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn several times during my childhood, and I feel sorry for children who do not read these novels today.

The Blu-ray presentation for this movie is quite fantastic, as I expected, and the two commentary tracks are pretty nifty.

I just finished watching Huckleberry Finn from my Twilight Time Blu-ray of Tom Sawyer/Huckleberry Finn.

I have fond memories of seeing this 1974 musical adaptation of Huckleberry Finn during childhood, just as I remember Tom Sawyer (1973) from back then, and it's been a pleasure to revisit both of these films this afternoon.

Jeff East, who played the teenage Clark Kent in Superman: The Movie, reprises his role as Huckleberry Finn after playing the character in Tom Sawyer, and he lends just the right blend of carefree rebellion and increasing maturity to the role that is required by this story. The most memorable performance of this movie, however, goes to Paul Winfield (The Terminator, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan), who plays the runaway slave, Jim, with whom Huckleberry Finn takes off on a raft down the Mississippi River. The pivotal events from the Twain novel, namely the Grangerford feud and adventures with the "King" and the "Duke", are portrayed with in a way that really nails the vibe of the story. Gary Merrill (Where the Sidewalk Ends, All About Eve) has a memorable turn as Pap.

Once again, the Blu-ray presentation is pretty great, and I'm pretty sure that it represents the source material quite well.

I just finished watching my Twilight Time Blu-ray of Runaway Train.

Jon Voight (Deliverance, Heat) plays Manny, a brutally dangerous bank robber who, after being in solitary for three years in a remote Alaskan maximum security prison, pulls off a daring escape with the help of a cocky younger prisoner, Buck, played by Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight, Inherent Vice). After braving a freezing trek through the Alaskan wilderness, the two escapees stow away on a train just as the engineer suffers from a fatal heart attack. While the train speeds out of control, Manny and Buck, along with a train employee played by Rebecca De Mornay (Risky Business), must figure out a way to survive while also evading capture from the sadistic prison warden, who is obsessed with bringing Manny down.

Runaway Train, one of the most suspenseful and nail-biting films of the 1980s, is also one of the greatest cinematic statements about the importance of freedom. Jon Voight is a tour-de-force in every way in the best role of his career and in the role that rightfully earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor, along with Eric Roberts, who earned a nomination for Best Supporting Actor. John P. Ryan (Bound, The Right Stuff, Avenging Force) is also amazing in his role as Warden Ranken. The story of an out-of-control train is gripping in itself, but the prison escape angle elevates this movie to a masterpiece.

This is one of the greatest titles that Twilight Time has released on Blu-ray.

This Twilight Time Blu-ray sports a strong audio and video presentation, and I cannot find any faults with the transfer. The commentary track, with Eric Roberts, along with film historians David Del Valle and C. Courtney Joyner, is really enjoyable.

Great review for Runaway Train! Such an underrated film. Eric Roberts gets on my nerves a little bit in it but other than that I love it and spot on about Jon Voight. What a performance! It's Alaskan setting is pitch perfect as well and I wonder if it was filmed somewhere else without snow if it would've worked just as well.

Don't eye....buy! The Bullet Train is excellent. Really well done thriller about a bomb aboard a high-speed commuter train that will explode if the train drops below a trigger speed. Since the route has curves, bridges, multiple stations, and areas of high population along the tracks, things get tense in a hurry as the train roars its way across Japan. The acting and writing are top notch. It is told similar in style to a film like The Taking of Pelham One, Two, Three - with the police and rail system engineers trying to locate where the bomb is placed on the train, how to deal with the automatic controls that want to stop the train in high speed situations, and how to save the passengers without derailing or blowing up. It also gives us a believable and complex portrait of the bomber who devised the scheme. This is a great film, one of my favorites.

Squeezed in a quick order yesterday before the end of the sale. I've been watching quite a few spy/espionage films set in Europe recently, so picked up Scorpio and The Russia House.

I have the DVD of Scorpio, which I watched once years ago and didn't care that much for. I watched it again recently and enjoyed it a lot more, making the $14.95 sale price an attractive proposition. The Russia House is a blind buy, but probably hard to go wrong at under 10 bucks - especially given the cast, and the le Carré source material.

Wondering if anyone can help me out on this:

Is Theatre of a blood getting close to going OOP? On eBay, fee copies are for sale....and most are around $40-$50.

I'm also not sure if it's available to purchase on the Twilight Time website anymore.
