I have watched the same movie in 4K HDR and in 3D. I find that 3D (if done correctly) can do more to immerse you in the movie than 4K HDR. I wish 3D were part of the 4K HDR standard. Perhaps after the Avatar sequel.

Eyeball 101 or Shining the Light on dem Eyes
![]() Pupils don’t ‘contract’. What contracts (or expands) is the muscle, namely the sphincter papillae. Pupils are essentially openings which constrict or dilate, as I think human hobbyists can intuitively figure out, be it smaller or larger, when exposed to light……unless of course the person unfortunately has a Marcus Gunn pupil (perhaps a topic for another day). |

Consider that ^ to be rather basic knowledge. The post above that regarding shooting the Blue Crew vs Giants next week to be more insider-ish info.

Is season 2 confirmed to be in HDR? That would be great. Really good show.

^ I guess Geoff's too busy somewhere to comment....and I made a concerted effort to spell color...colour. Oh well, mrtickleuk, are you by any chance going to that flat panel shootout that they're having in England land?

On a more advanced note -
CIC25 Workshop 2 In order to address these issues, this workshop brings together researchers from academia and key companies in the cinema and TV sector, to present their latest research outcomes and discuss their outlook on the topic. The goal is to provide an opportunity to encourage a closer collaboration among the image processing and vision research communities. The following is a list of speakers with titles and abstracts of their talks: http://www.imaging.org/site/AsiCommo...ion/Login.aspx scrolling down, note that Richard S. ![]() |

![]() On the other thread I see you liked Yedlin’s stuff - https://theasc.com/articles/a-clear-...-of-resolution . After the appreciation of using a 4K or higher rez camera for supersampling and the rather fundamental decision to choosing the camera and resolution of the master for their motion picture, these days in the emerging era of HDR, in order to harvest/work with/deliver optimal picture detail in terms of color fidelity and dynamic range, aspiring astute cinematographers should (and some with a technical background are) actually be more concerned with bandwidth constraints within the DI theater that they choose because that can have a greater effect on the production and picture quality of the finished product than the resolution manifesto that Steve Y. presented. Having a 16bit file in an ACES workflow as a digital intermediate source throughout the post is important for an optimal and efficient process to picture quality outcome.Despite the wide dynamic range of the cameras that Steve evaluated, in some post facilities the DP doesn’t get all of that range because it’s been truncated to the more bandwidth friendly 10bit DPX type file. Multi-term past President of the ASC realizes this and spreads the word https://vimeo.com/151391193#t=19m34s |

I see that now from your location (Birmingham). That would be a big commitment by you or anyone else for that matter when eventually the newest shootout will probably be covered later in articles on the net anyway.

I'm fully aware of 10-bit still being a thing in post: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...9#post13617049
But when it comes to what Yedlin was trying to say about the pixel race then I can respect that for what it is, given how some people really do just focus on sheer numbers alone rather than what the end result looks like. We see the same shit day in, day out on this forum relating to 2K upscaled UHD. |
