I'd be surprised if it got any nominations outside of maybe Production Design, Costume Design, Hair/Makeup, Sound and Sound Editing. Even the VFX looked kind shabby. Maybe it'll get a Best Picture nomination as the token "nominated movie that people have actually seen," but I think it's more likely that Dunkirk or Get Out would be that movie.

If any comic book movie deserves Oscar nominations this year, it's Logan.

The change to allow up to 10 best picture nominees was specifically to include more popular films, so I would be all for both Wonder Woman and Get Out being nominated in a field of 10.
A lot of times movie fans complain that the Academy is stuck in its Oscar-bait ways, so I think it's entirely appropriate that a couple of really well made genre pictures get rewarded with a nomination. |

Dunkirk doesn't have a chance of winning but it will probably get a nomination. I am not just saying that because I can't stand Nolan films either. Other than Silence Of the Lambs has a film ever won that was released so far out before the awards ceremony? Of all of the films that have been released so far I would put money on Ghost Story winning.

2) as far as early-year releases winning Best Picture, it happened quite a lot in older years (Even The Godfather came out in March). But as far as modern era, there aren't really any that come to mind besides Silence that go as far back as February, but still several examples from the first half of the year: Gladiator - May Crash - May Braveheart - May Hurt Locker - June Forrest Gump - (early) July |

They'll probably get in due to a seriously lack of actual quality films this year. |

Weighing in on the issue of early year release films winning The Best Picture award:
One reason that, in recent years, early release films don't seem to win as much as they used to is because the studios have more or less adopted the practice of intentionally releasing their Oscar contenders during the last three months of the year thinking that most voters have short memories and tend to forget the films they saw earlier in the year. In fact, the media tends to label the last quarter of the year as "Oscar Season" now because of this practice. You would think that screeners that are sent out, and the multiple screenings that are held for voters might mitigate the short memory issue but I am not sure that it does. |

Even with a short Oscar "season," there are movies that start off with a huge surge of support that then dwindles away once something new comes up and people fall in love with the new movie instead. Up in the Air, Social Network, American Hustle, and Boyhood were all supposed to be heavy favorites until something else came along. Even Argo (an October release) probably wouldn't have won Best Picture had it not received that second surge of support after Affleck got snubbed for Best Director. So the fact that any early-year movies end up contending is kind of a surprise, considering the highs and lows even the late-year releases often go through over the course of just a few months.
