Hmmm. Amazon UK can get this to my door for $26.50. Its $33.00+ from Amazon USA or local. What am I missing here? Other than waiting a week extra to get it which is no big deal?
Screw it - just placed the order via Amazon UK. Saved me $7-$9 bucks overall. Cash is cash ![]() Last edited by s2mikey; 09-02-2017 at 10:17 PM. |

Bull Moose is only a handful of stores around the New England area (mostly Maine) and they don't adhere to the ways of big business like Amazon. It's only a handful of employees that handle EVERYTHING. They're awesome.
When I was in college there was one down the street and I'd walk down to it every day and check if there were any movie scores traded in. Very often I'd find an out-of-print gem of a score that cost only $2.97. |

Yep. Mine finally updated and says the same. I won't be watching it until next Sunday though. Me, my Pops and a group of people are seeing The Wrath Of Khan on the big screen then going to my place to watch this. I have one friend who's never seen it and it sounds like he's gonna be in for a treat being able to watch it in 4k. Its gonna be like traveling back to 1982 next weekend

I tried to watch this a few years ago. I watched about 25 min or so and turned it off. I just could not get into it. I wanted to see what the hype was about this movie and I'll probably never know, its just one movie I could not sit down and watch from beginning to end. I really enjoy SYFI movies but not this one. You know the phrase...."to each his own". That's my motto here..

I watched the disc tonight and it's just outstanding in every way. The biggest improvements that immediately stood out to me compared to the BD were the details as well as the more natural looking, better rendered film grain - those alone are just big improvements. Color and shadow detail excellent - no crush at all. I cannot comment on the HDR part as my projector is SDR, but I really get the sense it was done well and tastefully. Some scenes are just absolutely breathtaking. It was worth the wait to finally get this mastered and encoded to virtual perfection.

I can't comment on this specific disc, but I have an SDR 4k tv and I can tell a hell of a difference, especially in catalog titles like The Fifth Element and The Professional. I'm assuming Blade Runner will be no different.

Dont feel bad though - the film does NOT sit well with many people on their first viewing. Hell, my second viewing wasnt much better but I did make it through it at least. Try it again and see what you think. Its worth a second watch. If that still leaves you feeling "meh" then forget it. ![]() |

Okay this may or may not be of interest, because naturally I can't do it justice, but my goal here was to try and show the resolution of film grain, which is just insane...
Sorry, I'm obviously not a cameraman, I was trying to hone in on areas I thought demonstrated this best, while fighting with my phone's autofocus. But here you go anyway... Last edited by Croweyes1121; 09-03-2017 at 03:00 PM. |

I found it ok. Not great, not bad. I have the 3 disc 30th anniversary set. Feel like I'd upgrade if the 4K drops to around $20. Shocked the 4K doesn't gave all five versions. I'll get this but I don't need this today. Always liked the visuals and the basic plot but not the outfits and the main male and female replicants never felt believable and felt like actors were forcing themselves to make people root for them. And I wasn't crazy on Ford in this. So plot, visuals, good. Acting, meh.

Still, it's well designed sci-fi and I'm a sucker for it so I ordered the U.K. Version for $10 bucks less than local. I can always sell it or trade it to my brother if I find that I still can't get into it. I hope the new movie is great since that will make me more interested in the franchise. |

Again, I just want to preserve original editions of films. WB apparently feels otherwise. And George Lucas (separately). Hopefully by creating havoc somewhere down the line WB will release the other editions of Blade Runner in future formats so that new fans and already established fans will have access to more than just revisionist edits. That's all I'm saying. And the punchline is that WB could have done just that, perhaps even more cheaply in terms of production costs, if they would have included the 2012 BD discs rather than an incomplete set of DVDs. |
