Hey guys, I'm probably going to get a lot of flak for this thread and I'm not trying to single anyone out or be rude. I also realize I'm not a mod and creating this thread isn't my job, I'm only doing it because I feel like I have a responsibility as a member to at least help in keeping this forum an informative and organized community. I also realize this probably belongs in Feedback and not here. However, I posted it here because this is the section where I keep seeing the issues I am about to bring up, and I want as many people that post in this section to see it. That being said:
There are so many threads in here with titles that simply state the movie name, then go on to ask "when will this come out on bluray?" Firstly, please try and title your thread accordingly. Add a question mark, or just title it something like "When is [title] coming to Bluray?" It's confusing when a thread isn't titled accordingly, and annoying when someone sensationalizes a title just to get attention. Not to mention titling your thread appropriately also makes it easier for those to search for it ![]() Secondly, the site admins have created a section for such threads, the Bluray Wishlists section. If you have questions about when a bluray is coming out, check the release schedules on basically any bluray website (if an official website hasn't heard something, it's likely-but not always-that members haven't either), or use the search feature...which brings me to Please, try and use the search feature before starting a thread. There are so many identical threads in this section and simply stating "mods please delete this if there is another thread" doesn't really seem like an excuse. If a mod or other members can find a similar thread, you should be able to as well. EDIT: i completely get that no one is going to spend 5 minutes looking for an identical thread. all i was requesting is that people at least do a basic search, even if they only skim a few pages. if everyone searched before starting a thread then the section would likely contain fewer reposts. members who have been here a while generally know what topics are discussed most often, so this is primarily directed at (but again, not attacking) newbies. Those are the 2 biggest things I've noticed, and mainly in this section. This is not at ALL an attack or criticism on the mods in this section, I think they do a phenomenal job and I would ask nothing more of them. This is mainly for members who start up identical thread after identical thread and I'm hoping some will read this before doing so. I love being a member here and I'm sure everyone else does as well, I'm just trying to bring up issues I see numerous other members bringing up day after day with each identical or mistitled thread created. If this gets closed or deleted I understand why, and I won't start up another one. I just hope some people get to see it before it is. Thanks for listening, -DYB Edit: Just to make sure it's clear, this is not supposed to be outlet for me or anyone else to call out annoyances they have with the forum. The point of this thread was to act as a simple reminder to be smart about posting. I don't want it to seem like anyone here is attacking newbies or other members, and as I stated before I am glad there are so many people joining the forum, the bigger the better. If you have a problem with anything I've said you're welcome to bring it up with me here or PM me, just please be respectful about it and don't twist my words around. That's all I ask. lol im really not trying to be and i hope it doesn't come off that way. i just see so many members get annoyed with the same issues and i was hoping new members or members in general would read this and it would potentially help lessen the amount of identical and mistitled threads we have. like i said i know it's not my job to do so, but i hope no one takes offense to me at least attempting to help out.

I don't know if I would have started a thread on this, but I understand completely where you are coming from. I can forgive (if that's the right word) the newbies, because they don't always know where to look for things (hell, I sometimes don't know where to look and post at times).
The only thing that annoys me is lack of coherency in a sentence. People, please use punctuation! I don't care about the spelling, as I can figure that out, but a 100-word paragraph without punctuation gives me a headache. |

Ummm. Ok.
I understand your complaints (I find it annoying sometimes too) but that doesn't mean I should go make a thread about things I don't like. And as much as you're entitled to make this thread, other members are entitled to make threads about their favorite movies, just to ask when/if they are coming out on BD. If things get out of hand, that's what the mods are for. Also, not to specifically out you, but you tell people if they want to find a release date, to look it up on a website. That's a lot harder to do than to Google the word "steelbook" and find out what that is, yet you started a thread asking that very question. |

DoYouBlu,
I mostly agree with you. But, latley there has been a lot of new members on this site, mostly because of the release of The Dark Knight. In saying that, as a New Member, sometimes you are not familair with the site. So you think that it is completly acceptable to start a new thread. You might not even think about searching the other threads because mabye they don't have time, or are not as familiar with the other forums as more seasoned members, like you and me are. Now having said that, you, me and alot of the other members, who have spent a lot more time on this site, know whether it's a repeat thread or not. What could take us 3 mabye 4 minutes to find, could take a new member who has no clue as to how this site is operated upward to around 10-15 minutes to find. Therefore, I will cut some of the newer members some slack. However, when a member who knows the site real well does something like that, I will show no mercy. |

Although today I've been a little snippy, usually, the thing that gets to me is what gets to Johnny up there - horrible punctuation and grammar - or using all caps or something like that. I dunno, I mean - no one made me the grammar police, so I never correct it or call someone out on it like some people do - but still. Eh, just my dos centavos.
