"Appropriate for the scene" by whose estimation?

I don't think Ridley Scott just willy nilly signed off on an Atmos remix without checking it out first (this was to get a theatrical re-release). Warner is not often one to remix catalog titles for the fun of it. Maybe Harry Potty is an exception, but a dare say it isn't the rule.

Just a heads up for those in Canada. I purchased this from Best Buy, even thought they don't have it listed on their site. It was the last copy they had left at that location.

Regarding the roll of the dice and which discs you get, I stopped by Frys to get my copy (they had plenty) and noticed two slipcovers mixed in...one with a "35th Anniversary of Blade Runner" sticker and one without. I haven't opened mine yet, but if I had to guess, the ones with the sticker may be the corrected ones and WB put a sticker on it to designate it? Could be totally off, but that's the only differences I saw. Wonder if you also received one with the sticker and what discs were inside. Or....they could've just forgot to put stickers on some.

Mine has the sticker and has the "wrong" discs, so I don't think that's it. If anything, the one without the sticker is the corrected one.

The color and sound are especially improved with the 4K disc. The thunderstorm is amazing with Atmos.

Sharpness can be perfect when the cameras were focused precisely. The best part of the 4K is the visceral feeling of being there in many sequences.

I had to reduce my LG OLED super resolution setting from high to medium to avoid grain darkening in white light shots. Even at high, the movie looks great. Medium offers less grain. Expect some grain from a 1982 film with dark scenes. Even so, it never looked better. No complains from me.

This release is an example of the 4K UHD discs that make the purchase of the Atmos and 4K playback worth the money. Those who say there is no difference with the 2K disc need hearing and eyesight checked OR a quality adjustment of their AV equipment.
If you cannot tell the difference between a bluray at 16Mbps and a 4K mastered release with this quality you should probably stop buying these things.

Is there a version with just UHD and BD version of The Final Cut available? Without extras and other versions.

I think the UK release out this week is just 2 BDs, one UHD BD and a regular BD. The other UK release is one with extra discs.

While I have little doubt that Sir Scott would not sign off on such a mix without doing his due diligence, I think the more pertinent question is whether he signed off on it at all.

Sorry- my fault. It's my favorite movie and that introduced Murphy's Law into the equation.

This disc...

It's absolutely fantastic that we're at a point where new 4K releases are so good that we have to constantly revise our top 5 favorite discs list.

This and some of the other recent catalog titles are going to make the promise of not upgrading but a handful of Blu-rays difficult to keep... And we thought Blu-ray looked like a film projection in your home. 4K really does raise the bar for quite a few titles.

I just got my copy at Suncoast (FYE). 45 bucks (!) But I had some trade in credit so it brought down to around $25. They had 3 copies and hadn't put them on the shelf yet, I had to ask about it.
I got Discs 1, 2, and 3 from the old set in it, by the way.

Not really, it's the people saying 6K and 8K are needed for 4/35mm, which is nonsense. By all means scan at those resolutions by way of Nyquist et al (oversampling) but a 4K finish will capture everything you need.

Do you think 8k will be a disc format or streaming?
