Just buy an external Blu-ray drive that is suited for Mac OSX I am sure someone out there has made this happen. Their screens support 1080p now so there shouldn't be much of an argument there. It would be nice if their new line of macbooks supported this though I would have bought a new macbook pro for this reason alone as well as others, but I guess I'll have to wait a few more years before they finally realize that they should have one in their systems.

Yes, "its" is correct... I was just seeing if anybody was awake! Just kidding :-) But a collective noun would only be plural in some instances, like a team. "The Bears are on their way to victory" (implying that each member is one Bear?). Apple is a singular collective noun. It only refers to the single body, rather than a group of individuals. So "Apple are...." is incorrect. "Apple is..." is correct, and the appropriate pronoun for a company, is "it."
