This would be an instant buy for me here in the US if it does indeed come out on 4K.

Tracking for a $60-70 million opening box office, I likely will, even with Warner's grunge against releasing horror movies in 4K.

Same here. This movie is gonna be huge so I have no concerns about WB canceling this.

The format seems to have a much firmer foothold in the marketplace now. Like I'm said, I'm not concerned.

The Conjuring 2 disappointed a lot of people. IT is getting rave reviews and is tracking to make quite a bit of money over the weekend and even over its run. I think we'll be fine

Meh... it didn't really. It had a lower domestic box office sure, but it had a higher worldwide box office and it's lower domestic box office can be attributed to a crowded summer period (the film opened alongside Now You See Me 2 and Warcraft) as well as overall issues concerning Hollywood tentpoles at the moment (too many big films being released over the summer period, meaning there's less chance of success as audiences are more divided). If The Conjuring 2 had been released in September similar to IT and the first Annabelle, it'd have performed a lot stronger domestically.

Reviews were very positive, with the common consensus that it was a very well made horror film and just wasn't as good as the first. The film has 79% on Rotten Tomatoes and 65 on Metacritic, indicating mostly positive reviews. Audiences really liked it (82% of audiences liked it according to RT and has a user average of 7.7 on Metacritic).

The Conjuring 2 UHD being cancelled likely has more to do with the format being in it's infancy and WB thinking a horror film wouldn't sell well on the format at the time. The Conjuring 2 will certainly be released on UHD when The Conjuring 3 is released (which could potentially be 2019 if WB find a director before the end of the year).

Might import it from the US then. Seeing the film tonight and I know I'm going to love it. Don't think I could wait until sometime in January for the UK release.

Conjuring 2 has like an 80% on RT, A- cinemascore, etc.

Maybe I'm out of my head then. Virtually everyone I know who has seen it said they ruined the pace of the first film to make 'Haunted House - The Movie'.

I preferred Conjuring 2 a little over the first. I like both movies, coming from someone who isn't much of a horror enthusiast.

Wanted to see IT weekend before last but my screening was the same night as Mayweather/McGregor, so I had to pass. Will hopefully check it out this week, along with some other stuff I've been putting off (namely Logan Lucky).

Thank goodness this is a WB release. That means we can expect Atmos on the 4k AND Blu Ray disc.

Too bad it sounds like the filmmakers still stooped to overusing modern "horror" tendencies to overdo those sequences rather than rely solely on unnerving you with things you cannot see or barely see, but are there below the surface.

I like how Spielberg chose (and thankfully Bruce forced his hand) to build up to the shark reveal in Jaws rather than have the monster front and center. I also even enjoy the original The Haunting as it plays on your fears without showing you much of anything.

I'll rent it first.
