So I was about to purchase let the right one in the other day until i stumbled across this article about the subtitles....
http://iconsoffright.com/news/2009/0...les_in_to.html If the differences didn't really effect the movie I wouldn't care..but it looks like they really ****ed this one up. I guess Magnolia has already commited to fixing the problem but I can't seem to find out when..and I really want a copy of this movie. Does anybody have information on when the newly authored discs will show up? thanks |

as far as ive heard, the studio said they will be releasing the film with the original subs released in theaters, but wont be offering a swap program.
i guess if it says on the back of the box subtitles: english (theatrical). then u have the newer one with the good subs |

This explains the new disc, as well as the lack of any sort of trade-in or exchange program. The info can be found in the 3/25 entry. |

this has been addressed in the main thread,
let the right one in there has been no indication its been released just yet. with Nithr gathering info about Magnet re-releasing the film... and i quote In other news today, you might recall that we recently reviewed Magnet's Let the Right One In on Blu-ray Disc. Well, it's just come to our attention that the DVD and Blu-ray versions have English subtitles that differ substantially from those of the theatrical art house presentation, in that much of the subtle nuance has been lost and many original lines of dialogue are untranslated entirely. Unfortunately, having only seen the film once in theatres, I wasn't familiar enough with the translation to spot the differences. But Icons of Fright has posted some examples of just how different the subtitles are. We contacted Magnet directly on this issue this afternoon, and they were quick to respond as follows: "We've been made aware that there are several fans that don't like the version of the subtitles on the DVD/BR. We had an alternate translation that we went with. Obviously a lot of fans thought we should have stuck with the original theatrical version. We are listening to the fans feedback, and going forward we will be manufacturing the discs with the subtitles from the theatrical version." We asked Magnet some follow-up questions, specifically how people will be able to identify the new discs, when they'll be available in stores and if there will be an exchange program for those who have the existing version. Here's what they said: "There are no exchanges. We are going to make an alternate version available however. For those that wish to purchase a version with the theatrical subtitles, it will be called out in the tech specs box at the back/bottom of the package where it will list SUBTITLES: ENGLISH (Theatrical), SPANISH." The no exchange thing is going to upset many that have already purchased the disc, and understandably so. We're at least encouraged to see that the title is being corrected. We'll let you know when the discs are available, and rest assured we're letting Magnet know that an exchange program might be a wise idea... |

a more illicit comparison between the theatrical released subtitle, and the dvd subtitle can be found here...
iconsoffright you can find all the details on the main thread about this movie, linked above to avoid repetitive threads. Last edited by jomari; 03-27-2009 at 04:57 PM. |

Magnolia screwed up the subtitles for this Gem from last year. They changed the subtitles on the bluray/dvd release from what was originally in the theatrical version. Check on the back where it shows subtitles. Make sure it says - English Subtitles / English (theatrical) Subtitles / Spanish Subtitles
If you want to read up more on it check out these posts about it. http://www.slashfilm.com/2009/03/23/...n-dvd-release/ http://www.slashfilm.com/2009/04/01/...es/#more-23796 This one has lots of screenshots comparing the theatrical version to the bluray/dvd version: http://iconsoffright.com/news/2009/0...les_in_to.html |
