This plays like Dragons Lair to me. But instead of timing your button presses with a prompt or a strict timing philosophy this adopts a rather unique way of doing it.
As your jumping, going through hoops, your basically pressing a button depending on what the next object is. If its a wall, its X, if its a hoop its O and if you need a long jump press /\. So all the platforming is done on those 2 buttons pretty much. The only thing that worries me is the light seeds. I don't mind collecting them on my travels but I will be damned if i'm coming back to each world later on. That was the beauty of SOT, you don't go back to areas you've done. It was the beauty of GOW too. For some reason I prefer a linear world in a game. I would have preferred the map be gone and all the worlds joined by dots as a linear path. Surely game creators can't think by giving you the choice it makes the game any better. I suppose adding light seeds makes the map necessary, but that was a bad idea in the first place. |

^ If you're conscientious about picking up most of the visible light seeds after healing each zone, you can complete the game easily without bending over backwards.
You only need 540 seeds to unlock the last power, and you'll get 50 of that total just from defeating Corrupted (they're worth 25 each, and you'll have access to two of them after unlocking 3 powers). Really the only time you really have to sort of buckle down and track down loose light seeds is right at the beginning, where you need 34/45 seeds average from each the first five zones you unlock to get to your 2nd power. Once you get there though it's smooth sailing and you barely have to work hard at all to get to the 540, since there are 1001 total light seeds in the game (with something like 780 of them accessible by the time you get your 3rd power). P.S. Has anyone tried going after the 12 hour and 100 or fewer rescues trophies yet? I just started a game to nab both, and it's quite ridiculously challenging. You don't realize how often Elika saves your hide until you have this Sword of Damocles hanging over your head of not wanting to waste rescues on stupid failures. I got my 12 hours and less than 100 saves in my first playthrough, and I thought it was going to be like 20 hrs, maybe because of all the restarting to get the less than 100 saves it felt like more. Now Ill get the runner trophies and find all the light seeds and I will have my platinum

Oh I should also point out that using the triangle button on the Map lets you teleport between healed regions, so no backtracking necessary once you've already gotten all/most of the light seeds in a zone.

I have about 200+ seeds now and find the game quite enjoyable. The main problem is wondering what all the colors mean on the map and what worlds are best explored first. But once you find out where your going and where is best to go next, its quite an easy game to just enjoy.
The scenery is nice but so far its not that varied. |

be honest with me...
is this a game that i could complete/get all trophies in two weeks time? i know it is an amazing game, and i know i should buy it, but i can't keep buying all these games so i have to decide which ones i want to rent. i am leaning towards renting this one, but i want to make sure i can get it done in one rental. thanks in advanced! ![]() |

I wouldn't say its easy to get every trophy at all. 1001 seeds would take me weeks. Beating the game with less than 100 helping Elrikas would take years.
I think people talk alot of crap on here sometimes. Either that or they are olympic champion games players. |

anyways, im pretty sure I can get platinum in 12 days. the less than 100 saves thing is easy, cause like someone said before, just quit every time you die. don't know about the 1001 seeds thing, but i'm pretty sure its doable, just takes time. i don't think most of the people on this site are full of doodie; when i game has trophies that are too hard (e.g. warhawk, wipeout) pretty much everybody admits it. i don't even think idealsupra, who has the most trophies of anybody i know, has all of them for either gamem ![]() |

Trophies are not my thing. But I know if there was one for wiping your ass while going for gold alot of you would enjoy that. I just don't see the point in stretching a game just because it has this objective which for the most part is obsolete.
Isn't stopping the game cheating? I mean to me all that means is that you quit the game alot to get the 100 save trophy. Thats just silly. |

man, im going for the sword master trophy, and every time i must be missing the combo by one, because ive done an insane combo like four times where i press all the right buttons, but im not getting the trophy. i think im messing up the timing a bit in the middle. grrr...

I like the game, but it seems kind of easy. erika seems to keep me alive no matter how bad i play. The hardest part of the game seems to be the light seeds. I prefer to take my time when I play my games so I normally just buy them. If you're the type that can finish a game in one sitting, then I'd just rent it.
