Good movie. It's a shame that no one went to see it.
The '95 "Kiss of Death" is a really solid remake. Cage and Caruso are both very good in it. TT released the original, so might as well release the remake.

Glad you agree! The cinematography by Luciano Tovoli really deserves to be seen in HD. It looked so great in the theater. You're right about it making sense for them to do the remake as well, because having both versions of KISS OF DEATH beside each other on one's shelf would look very nice indeed.

My latest buy with my $2 coupon:

Was able to get for $12.83 which is a great price. Will be a blind buy as I'm a huge François Truffaut fan.

Curious if anyone is or has picked "The Believers" up from TT?
I remember seeing it in the Theatre when released (1987) and found it creepy as hell, haven't seen it since on any format.
The year following, watched "Serpent and the Rainbow" in theatre and remembered it fondly enough to snag both the vhs and dvd after buying the book by Wade Davis. Both deal off-handedly with voodoo and though they ain't no "White Zombie" I found them quite entertaining.

It's a great one. I'm also a Truffaut fan and I'd rank MISSISSIPPI MERMAID high on the list. Enjoy!

I liked The Believers and bought a copy awhile back from Twilight. Like The Serpent And The Rainbow, it's a movie that has some flaws and kind of loses steam the last quarter or so.

It starts out strong however and offers some showcase "creepy-crawler" moments!

When I see things like this happen, I really wish TT would go back to their policy of only allowing 1 to 3 copies to be purchased per person, once the quantity is very low. (Not a fan of scalping).

Great call on picking up "The Fortune". It's a shockingly underrated film. The last 30 minutes always make me laugh my ass off.

Go both if you can. "The Fortune" is a terrific screwball comedy, while "Under Fire" is a slow, but ultimately rewarding film. I'd go with "The Fortune" if you only can have one.

So was I, and I almost want to cry. The element used is full of dirt and white speckling, and the edge enhancement is terrible. At least the color is okay, but I've seen a pristine, absolutely spotless transfer on HDNet Movies (had it on my DVR for years) and, I believe, TCM has shown it. Why TT couldn't get that superior transfer, but gets this inferior one from many years ago is beyond me. I should have been wary when I saw no commentary track for this and the other westerns (probably beware of those too). Nick Redman and Julie Kirgo just couldn't have done a commentary knowing the viewer was watching this crappy old transfer.

This is what I get for pre-ordering and not waiting for reviews. Sad.

Yeah I remember it premiering on HBO in the 70s but being a teenager, wasn't really interested in seeing it. I have no idea what to expect but it's Mike Nichols …how disappointing can it be? Throw in the fact that I love Stockard Channing and am dying to see her in her first major role.
