I think it's a British thing. Either that or it's a holdover from the premium Asian steelbook labels.

It's a trade name, used to describe how the cardstock fits over the product.

It's the worst. It's a combo of two much, MUCH more commonly used terms, the V-card and the O-face.

Here's a cell phone shot of my computer screen with the frame grab from YouTube of the video camera footage of the BFI IBtech screening. I also added a cool Instagram filter:

As always, because plonkers like the above poster will never let up, I have to reiterate that common sense and an appreciation of the limitations of the context apply when posting and assessing photos or grabs from video recordings of film screenings.

It's a wonder they don't just plonk a video camera in front of the movie screen and put that on a disc. Save them a lot of bother.

If these photos/video recordings matched the colours of the TLEFilms and poo-pooed the Synapse restoration, you'd be all over them like a rash bigging them up Martoto I'm sure.

Nope. If you had actually been paying attention, you'll have seen that I haven't praised or criticised any particular version. Just challenged the petulant mud slinging and snide narratives from one particular party.

Anyone using a photo or a video of a movie screen to prove something about colours deserves all they get.

Well considering there's been no "petulant mud slinging" going on in recent weeks, I'd say there's **** all left for you to contribute to this thread, for now. Oh and anyone who twists the words and intentions of someone posting said photos/video framegrabs even after said posters go out their way to point out the intrinsic problems of said images, can **** right off.

Are you angry with me?

Anyway. Whose words did I twist?

These?

This thread has been a ludicrous two years worth of "This will be great/better/best, we presume. Nothing else can possibly be as right." It's not my fault that people are so uptight about being right about something they haven't seen yet.

Saw it last night in Toronto. No new information here but I can reiterate what others are saying about the new restoration looking absolutely beautiful and sounding even better. There were moments I was annoyed that the audience was talking only to realize a few seconds later that it was actually new background dialogue i'd never heard before. And that Goblin soundtrack over the sound system. Jeez. It was like hearing it for the first time again.

One thing I noticed that I never noticed when watching on smaller screens is how out of focus certain scenes are. I guess that was amplified by watching it on the big screen but it's almost comical just how many out of focus shots there are.

Now that I've seen both the Italian and the Synapse scans I can certainly say that I prefer the Synapse scan by leaps and miles. The colours look beautiful, skin tones are warm, and most importantly it doesn't have that distracting green tint littered throughout the film that the Italian scan does. I know the Italian version has it's loyal supporters but I don't care if that's how it's supposed to look. The Synapse version just looks better to me. Plain and simple.

If this is playing in your city you owe it to yourself to check it out. I'm even catching a second screening in October!

Side note: anyone else see this at the Fox Theatre in Toronto? Worst audience ever. People were laughing like they were watching a comedy. What is so hilarious about Jessica Harper dumping her wine down the sink? That's just one example that this crowd deemed hilarious. And of course, there's always the one person in attendance that needs to laugh 10 decibels louder than everyone else so she can be the centre of attention. If you were there, you know who I am talking about. Okay, end of old man yells at cloud rant.

going through this thread a bit, for some reason, especially since I like horror movies, I never got around to seeing this movie. Seeing how its limited and can potentially sell out, is it worth a blind buy?

The packaging is limited edition. The expectation is that there will be a non-limited edition of the movie once this sells out, though that hasn't been technically announced. Not to say it's not worth the blind buy, but at the price you might prefer to wait.

They should create a thing in cinemas similar to what they have in churches. A little soundproofed room with a window for people who can't or won't keep their children quiet during mass. And invite anyone who thinks that every movie is a Rocky Horror event to sit in there and enjoy the sound of their own voices, while the rest of us contemplate how much more quickly they will be going to hell.
