Nice, going to Bristol next weekend so might pop in to get The Crying Game (possibly some others). I'm particular after Culloden, Farewell My Concubine, Paris Blues, Daughters of the Dust, Film/Notfilm, Opening Night...they have any of those for £6?

Also the Lino Brocka set, which I'd prefer to get in-store as the two copies I received from Amazon were badly damaged and I had to return them.

Reckon they might join the HMV offer though to be fair. That's often the case with these Fopp offers...

I was in Fopp Bristol a week ago, the following were all £6, The Informer, Beat Girl, The Adventures of Prince Achmed, Psychomania, Paris Blues, Culloden/The War Game, Shadows, Love on the Dole, Odds Against Tomorrow, Shooting Stars, Black Girl, Eyes without a Face and Play On! Others I'm sure but can't recollect.

Rita, Sue and Bob Too and The Crying Game were both £12 at the time.

I keep missing out on Culloden/The War Game and shadows at that price, I'm nowhere near a Fopp.

Hopefully HMV will have a BFI '5 for £30 offer' again soon.

Maybe after Nov 5th, when the Arrow sale ends

Both were in the one before but not the last one , if that makes sense. A friend might be going to Fopp tomorrow so I might be getting copies.

If that fails maybe some kind soul here could offer to procure copies for me?

I thought the same thing about Permissive, which was unavailable everywhere for many months, but that one has come back into stock recently.

If you’re anywhere near a Fopp store, you might want to take a look for Joanna in there.

Thanks!

I've been filling in my Flipside gaps during the recent Amazon BFI sale. Only JOANNA and a couple of the newer releases to buy now...

Your location shows as London. There’s a Fopp in Covent Garden.

Does Amazon ever price match Fopp? I would really like to order The Crying Game, The Big Risk, and Underground (which they don't even have in stock), but not at the prices Amazon is asking.

No but they price match hmv which is fopp's parent company and on past experience, hmv will probably put these titles in a 5 for 30 at 8.99 each and Amazon will match the 8.99

Nice one. I bought the Watkins disc on release, and it’s fantastic. The War Game packs one hell of a wallop, even 50+ years on. Small wonder it terrified the BBC.

What does one have to do to get a BFI tote bag? Minimum two BFI purchases from Fopp? I’m not bothered for myself, but my girlfriend surely loves a tote.

Yeah two BFI Titles and you gets a BFI Tote* , I'm normally not too bothered about such things but since the advent of the plastic bag thing I've got an increasing array of strong bags and Totes for shopping

*Other Totes are available
*Whilst Stocks Last
*Terms & Conditions apply

I'm sure folk get sick of me saying this but if you enjoyed The War Game and if you've not already seen it I'd really advise seeing it's mid-80's equivalent Threads.

Shot on film it's a perfect candidate for a BFI blu-ray, especially while most of the cast and crew are still around. Unfortunately the BBC saw fit to license it to Simply Media instead who saw fit to release it as a barebones DVD mastered from the same master as the 1980's BBC VHS.

Severin will be releasing Threads next year. Presumably it's US-only, though we can hope that BFI might oblige over here.
