You misunderstand: the "prologue" isn't really a prologue, it's a 5 or 6 minute clip of the film that was released as an IMAX teaser late last year.
But isnt the prologue basically a cottage of scenes already included in the movie?

Oh, now I'm the one misunderstanding, sorry. Yes, the stuff in the prologue was culled from the movie proper. I don't recall any exclusive material being contained in the prologue if that's what you mean.

The thing is, with the TDK & TDKR, the prologue was an actual sequence extracted directly from the finished film. While Dunkirk had a 5 minute montage that has it's own unique pacing and music. It's somehow different than what we get in the movie, so I think it would be cool to get it as a bonus. I still enjoy watching it even though I've seen the film five times on big screen.

So what's the big deal? It's basically just a 'trailer'. Nothing exclusive to cry about when we have the whole movie available in its full lenght

I hear ya, it's its own unique assembly and that's why you'd like it preserved but I'd still rather just watch the movie proper. You never know though, it may end up on the bonus features under the trailers section but I can't see it happening.

I understand wanting the trailer on-disc; it's part of the marketing, it's important to a lot of people to preserve it as a kind of memento of the movie. But nowadays they're all online in HD anyway so I stopped caring a while ago. I generally don't watch trailers anyway.

I'm the type of guy who once in a while enjoys rewatching a movie I enjoyed the first time around...But I could never see myself planning to rewatch a trailer after I own the movie itself

Well I understand that in regards to modern trailers since they're all the same generic shit nowadays, but when there's a movie like Jaws or Exorcist 2 where the trailer is it's own little piece of memorable filmmaking I damn well want to see it included, I assume the same is true for this prologue.

How can a trailer be a little piece of memorable filmmaking? All a trailer is is a collection of brief excerpts of the movie put together with lots of cuts, coupled with overblown bass effects and over editing, which usually start slows and builds up in pace up until the title of the movie is all that's left on screen

Have you ever watched anything made before 2010?

Some people care so much about the silliest things. A trailer once you've got the movie? I would have absolutely no use for it. Hell, I could probably count on one hand the number of times I've watched any of the bonus features on any disc I own.

My favorite part is when people complain about the lack of 4K remastered blu ray when they purchase a 4K disc.

Love me some bonus features, but yeah, trailers don't do much for me. They're easy to include though, so I dunno why they're not unless studios assume (correctly) that people can watch em online whenever they want.

I like having the trailers be included, more often than not they include alternate lines/takes or glimpses of entirely deleted scenes, it's just the Dunkirk prologue itself that I'm not too bothered about either way.

By being a little piece of memorable filmmaking, like the teaser for Alien and War of the Worlds?

Some people do have TVs with conventional Blu-ray players attached to them in addition to their TVs with 4K Blu-ray players attached to them, you know. The distributors included the Blu-ray disc for a reason, it's reasonable to assume... why shouldn't that disc be as good as it can be?

Literally not one single person on the planet purchases the UHD for the blu ray that comes with it.

I enjoy watching trailers. Some are really well made. I still get goosebumps whenever I watch Star Wars:The Force Awakens trailer. The music and the editing makes me wanna watch the movie again.

Obviously, most trailers are available online but unfortunately in highly compressed encodes. Also, having the trailers on disc means a bigger chance of getting 5.1 mixes instead of stereo.
