I do, as often as possible. She's getting married and travels alot with her job, so sometimes I have to wait a month before I get to see her again.

Why would they tell you that up front? Make this seem like the only way to get the BD so everyone buys from them

They definitely made a good effort with the idea and the design. Whether the packaging quality itself is good remains to be seen. And again, bells and whistles that may appeal to some or not appeal to others aside, the price is quite reasonable. Indeed, we are most fortunate that they didn't just do a DVD-only release, or, as most probably expected, no release at all.

On the other hand, to add to the existing evidence, this is Netflix only, not any other studio, distributor, etc. - as well as the fact that it's US-only - to my mind, that makes a full exclusive much more likely. But in any event, why would you wait for it to maybe be sold by someone else instead of just buying it at Target?

It is Strange that netflix has not announced this yet. I figured they would want to hype this up as much as possible.

Re: cynatnite

Was quoting your post before you deleted it, but the source is me. I work at Target. Literally had my hands on the ad prior to store closing. The release and the ad is as real as it gets.

Netflix is not very disc friendly anymore even though their streams are super compressed. They want subscribers, not disc owners.

Considering the ad is giving more space to "Stranger Things" than "Spiderman: Homecoming" (a streaming show that's been available online for well over a year vs. one of the biggest movies of the year), it seems like Target really is trying to push this release, which makes it being so hush-hush all the more confusing.

It really is fake. No way that vhs cassette will play with all those shiny coaster things crammed inside it.

We have this in the backroom at my store and the one thing that I noticed is how sturdy this thing is. You can't hear the discs inside of it (I know, "it could be empty") and there is a nice weight to it. Without having seen this opened I can say that this is going to one of my favorite packagings of the year.

To those who think that the ad is a fake: I know that some of you were probably kidding, but that is going to be the real price. I was kind of thrown by that because I figured that Netflix would have wanted to make as much money off of this as possible, but this thing is priced perfectly. It will bring in fans of the show, but it will also entice non-fans to pick it up to "see what this show is all about". We already have had numerous phone calls about it and people want to reserve a copy. Things are so crazy that Target had to issue a memo to its employees about "leaking information" and how you can be fired for it.

Still have a lot of private VHS recordings from back in the day I like to watch from time to time.
I ponder the cool possibility that the slip might be wrapped around a case made to look like a VHS tape and DanTheMan posts the below.

Are there a lot of extra features? If barebones, I'm passing on it...

Most exclusive windows I’ve seen seem to last in the 3-4 month range, but off the top of my head I can’t recall it happening for a TV show. It’s usually catalog films.
Throw in the fact that it’s Netflix, and we could be in uncharted waters.
Kind of surprised there was no press about the deal between Netflix and Target, as there are quite a few Stranger Things related products being offered.

It's good to hear that it feels sturdy -- I'm curious what the "VHS" will be made of: plastic or cardboard.

Interesting but isn't it too late for that? The images were circulating online since last week which lead me to create the thread
