We don't know. Back of case doesn't list any. No official announcement. Given that it's 2 discs DVD and 2 discs Blu-ray for 8 episodes, I consider it likely that it's a barebones release.

I haven't seen the show since I don't have Netflix. But I'm going to blind buy this since I know enough about the series to know that I'll enjoy this.Sort of the same as with the Marvel Netflix shows.I hadn't seen any of them until they started being released on disk but I knew I would like them so I bought them blind.

Making this retail exclusive is terrible. I hope they actually made a lot of these or it's going to be scalper city in a week which sucks for fans.

It is for future reference, in case an employee decides to break one open or "borrow" it for reasons. Target is rightly afraid of losing future exclusives and if more images and information leak before the ad releases, it can help cement that possibility.

Its already been reported in this thread that stores got more boxes of this than previous exclusives.

I think that Target and Netflix wanted this to be a secret that is why Target is getting mad about team members taking pics and sharing everything about this release to social media and forums like this one. They have a policy about leaking info, but they never got mad about it before when it came to dvds, blu-rays, cds, and books. They always got mad when it came to toy info being leaked, but now they don't want any leaks whatsoever, even though it is going to help the sales of Stranger Things on Tuesday.

I highly, highly doubt that. In the internet age, Target (and Netflix) needed this to leak to build anticipation. Why do you think the stores are getting so many? Do you honestly think Target expected every one of their employees (most of whom are teenagers and young adults) across the entire country to keep quiet about this release until it was secretly officially available? Of course they didn't, nobody would.

If Target/Netflix had really wanted this release to be a secret, they could have released a small quantity in a handful of stores and let it really fly under the radar. Instead, I think they wanted to promote the release without paying to promote it, and just use word of mouth via the internet (and a weekly circular) to drive release date sales.

Here in Wisconsin we have 37 Target stores.

If all 37 stores receive 10 boxes each, that would mean there would be 5,550 copies in the state.

If all 37 stores receive 60 copies each, that would mean there would be 2,220 copies in the state.

That's a lot of stranger things!!!

I really hope this isn't some weird in-store only release. Not everyone has access to a Target store and this would lower the potential sales by a large margin. Would be an incredibly dumb thing to do.

The reason they are getting mad about this is because of the leak. I am not saying that they didn't need the leak. They do. What I am trying to say is that Target is mad that this got out. Like I said before, they have never gotten mad about leaks in the Entertainment department. They never came out and said it, but I know that my former Store Manager would encourage me to take photos of the films that we would have and put them on my Twitter page or Facebook. Now, Target is really mad about this and the only reason that they would be is because they wanted it to be a surprise. I think that the timing was the factor. They know that the ad gets leaked a week early, so they knew that people would be talking about it this week, but they are mad that it got leaked before that. It is just a theory, but it is based on how Target treats each department.

It is. Where do you live that you have no access to a Target store? Alaska?

It was literally a week ago today. What major difference does that make? It's not like it was leaked months in advanced. I think its silly they are almost blackmailing their employees on losing their job simply because they posted it online. If they really wanted to keep this a "secret" then they wouldn't have sent copies out so early to the warehouses.

Does a person have to live out of the country to not have such easy access to a Target? Maybe some ppl don't have a car or nearby public transportation that make it easy to visit a Target.

I do not livve near a target.
I do not have any family or friends that live in my state.
Uber and Lift are those new cab things, right? No way in hell would I trust those, besides the fact that it would be a 2 hour trip... there and back.
So a cab is out of the question.

You don't know everyone's situation, maybe they dont have family there? And even if there is an Uber, Lyft or Taxi companies, say Target is on the other side of town or worse, having to pay $30+ round trip then the $24.99 for the bluray. Is it so surprising that maybe some people are in a tighter boat than you? Come on....
